For this specific situation, Buford is one of the top HS programs in the nation and Brewster appears to be going to the highest bidder (I assume this because of his TT commitment. Besides money, Im not sure what the attraction would be to Lubbock). And, honestly, I'm knocking the kid or his family, especially if there were issues at Cedar Hill. If my son was in his position, you better believe Id guide him to consider his earnings potential (positive or negative) in every decision he makes.

Their 'marriage' seems like a mutually beneficial arrangement. Im not sure if thats reflects either parties character.

Thought I should clarify since I got some pushback from a couple people. I agree it is hyperbolic to say a kid isn't serious if he takes the biggest bag. We certainly could have and probably did pay the suck tax to get some elite players like Maiugoa early on. We likely also do pay to get any dude we feel is worth the cost and will contribute Day 1.

One thing I'll say is overpaying for developmental prospects, which I consider the second tier of elite recruit, is usually a dangerous game. That's how you end up with the Jayden Wayne and Cyrus Moss of the world. For years Miami picked up these types of recruits, presumably by outbidding the normal bag schools, and usually it became clear that there was a reason the bag schools didn't match. Miami has now shifted into that category of program where we can choose to bag the elite of the elite Day 1 starters and can also win on the developmental guys with elite upside who are serious about football without being the highest bidder.

As far as Cantwell I recall he went on record and said we weren't the highest offer and that has been said about a number of other recruits. I think Mario has gotten us to a point at this stage where we can win with a lower competitive bid on some true elite players.

So, my statement references situations like MJC going to an Auburn team that is volatile or a Jordan Seaton going to Colorado or even LSU instead of taking a competitive offer from a place you know will put you in a position to succeed. If a player goes somewhere head scratching for a bigger bag, then they are gambling their future for that short term pay off and may not be as serious about football and the work as other recruits

It all starts at the top.

Because Sark is a poor flimsy leader who doesn't trust himself, his teams play on the field reflects that.

Beat up on lesser opponents & look good, but when it matters most, they fold under pressure & play timid.

Texas player for player, probably has more talent than any team in the country & yet no one outside of Austin thinks they actually have a shot. ****, most of their fans don't think so either.

They're talented poorly Coached team that underperforms when the lights are the brightest.

Sometimes beat up lesser opponents. They got beat up by a bad Florida team last year. Sark is a bum coach and all the talent in the world can’t make up for it.

What I've learned over the years of following CFB, is that when there's a bunch of offseason smoke about off the field issues, there's usually a couple fires.

But, it's really just a symptom of what actually plagues them as a program, which is leadership.

Sark is a very poor leader & what we've seen with his teams underperforming & what's bleeding into the offseason is a team/program that doesn't believe in its leader, so the seams are beginning to unravel.
