Not everybody is coachable, those two had chance after chance, but found other things more important than the Miami Hurricane Football Team.Culture begins and ends with coaching. Everybody you recruit is not going to be a self driven, hyper mature man child. If the coaching is good enough, you still win games. Character matters, but leadership determines which direction that character heads in for 80% of the population.
Missing one game for team rules, speaks to character. I lost count how many times those two players put themselves above the team and weren't available for games. Manny was the DC, he got to watch the offense sputter and leave the D on the field, while this was going on.
Both had plenty of chances (over seasons) and I got to the proof again: Big Time Players Show up in Big Time Games, neither found a way to do that. So not sure what makes you think yet another chance was going to allow JT to put up video numbers. Coaching is an excuse - he never showed any consistency in his game.
They are gone as are a few others, and the culture looks healthier as a result. We'll see.
Character is an individual concept, it can be enhanced by a coach, but it can't be established by a coach. By college, and I played, you either have it to a coachable level, or you don't. You either buy-in to the culture or you don't. JT quit on his HS and College teams, that says it all.
