I swear I'm having flashbacks to Al Golden. If the players do their job on offensive the play works!!!! Okay, Mark! Place the blame on the players and not your ishtyy offense. I'm telling you, this is what Golden was doing about that crappy defense he ran.

That is of course assuming your dudes are better physically and more athletic than their dudes, and I would have to agree in some respects with his statement. However, I don't think our guys are yet head and shoulders above most teams we play in the ACC. Sometimes coaches have to influence the game with their decision making and pay calling and not just rely on overwhelmingly better talent.

This is where Richt has fallen miserably short. When it becomes obvious during the game where we are just not going to out-muscle and out- athlete the opponent (especially in the trenches) he needs to start adjusting his play calling to get our guys in better position to succeed instead of waiting until the 4th qt. out of desperation.

As been mentioned before he calls plays like we have the Dallas Cowboys oline. He might get there at some point but we are not there now, so this is when adjusting his coaching and play-calling have to factor in. He is definitely stubborn and slow to adjust when it is obvious his play calling is not working.

Don’t think he was blaming the players. I listened and he said that all 11 didn’t execute and the coaches are to blame for not getting them ready to execute.

Sometimes coaches need to find plays the team can execute, instead of running plays over and over that they can not.

Canes have out recruited UVA every year. Your playbook is 4th grade reading material in dentist office. Time to upgrade.

again, just like Golden. His defense was 4th grade quality. No way should Virginia's defense have played with our offense, way too many weapons. Again, like Golden, he did not give his players a chance. they have to fight for EVERYTHING. Defenses don't have to think pre-snap. smh

I don’t care how well all eleven guys execute, if the defense knows what you’re going to do before the snap and is waiting for the ball when it gets there, you have no hope of success.

We need to get through to this obstinate man.

That's bull$hit coachspeak for it being the players' fault. i.e. the system is fine, but the coaches need to do a better job of teaching the system so the players execute it properly.

Fair enough. I’m certainly not saying I loved Richt’s comments.

I said the same thing, both of Perry's int it was like the defense was running the routes for the receiver. I'm not giving Perry a pass but they knew bout 90% of the plays called, except for the last drive.

Self awareness and evaluation is ALWAYS needed in the coaching profession.

Exactly! Every team in America besides Alabama has weaknesses and poor execution but the coach schemes them into production.

Richt has screwed this team over with his mismanagement of the QB situation and his antiquated play calling. We'll be lucky to get bowl eligible.

I was at the game and on the 4th down hand off to Choc.. a nearly black out drunk sorority girl was 2 rows down screaming "they are going to hand it to 32! They did it last week!"

Not much you can do when literally everyone knows what you're going to do. Especially against a team with a pulse on D. I honestly can't say I disagreed with the benching of N'kosi. He basically threw 3 interceptions in 6 passes.

Outside of JT4, the receivers look lethargic running routes. Pope was fast but looked like he second guessed it every time and wasn't sure of what to do. He just ran a 9 route every time and was just hesitant. Cager runs in quicksand. Wiggins was on lock down 95% of the night. Harley just looked lost on the 2 interceptions... both to him. Not sure who's fault but the second one Richt referenced the WR and I can see it. Thomas saved us from another interception by swatting it away.

We threw a lot more on first down than usual but they were low percentage throws. They were giving us stuff underneath and over the middle all day but we didn't take it... just kept taking shots down field or Malik didn't have the arm to fit it in. One thing I did notice on N'kosi vs Malik is that Malik is so slow on his drop that the play is fully developed by the time he hits the 3 step drop and he has to hold it.

The 2 minute offense was nothing short of embarrassing. Don't care if we got points or not. Those throws that we were making to Brevin were there all night if we would have just looked for it they were giving it to us.

Where is Jeff Thomas? Richt has never had a WR like him and has no clue how to use him properly. It blows my mind. A bubble screen isn't the only way to get him the ball quick and easy. He should have 10 touches a game and 1-2 can be bubble screens. Outside of JT4, the receivers look lethargic running routes. Pope was fast but looked like he second guessed it every time and wasn't sure of what to do.
