Caution: Initially this will come off as tough love but we hope to build U back up towards the end.

Good segue though. A wise Cane once said, “Pain creates greatness”, with this in mind we will attempt to help U “find the root of which U” are then we will help U through Ur storms. So, let’s get it!

Momentum Is Huge!!! Players make plays, coaches make decisions and decisions determine the outcome of games. This holds true in all phases of the game.

Here Are The Momentum Changers:

Line Splits: You can’t wait until you need a big throw down field to go wide splits. It’s imperative that you set the tone early in the game. Whether you choose wide or tight splits there has to be pulling guards and trap blocks incorporated in the run game. If you do this to start the first series you gain momentum.

Routes: Running backs must know that when moving throw the line; if you see pressure from a defensive linemen in the hole you are about to enter to get out to your pass route; you must stop your route to help block or chip the defender that the offensive linemen is struggling with. You make this block or chip; you keep the momentum.

Receiving: When you get a ball thrown your way you must fight for it and ultimately you must catch the football. There is no excuse for balls that hit you in the hand, chest, body and then you drop it. An Old receivers coach once said, “If you touch it; you can catch it” referring to gonorrhea. It’s also true as well with every ball thrown your way. Focus and catch the ball because you build momentum.

Kicking: Wide left, right and missed field goals won’t cut it here. This is the wrong program. You must face pressure kicks in practice. Yes, “I’m talking about practice”.
Result: Big kicks become natural and you build momentum.

Possessions: Win the time of possession game. Remember concepts and principles when play calling. After expanding the pocket created by the width of the wide splits there must be a threat of dives runs into the middle of the line to keep the defense from blitzing gaps. You can’t be predictable and run stretch plays off tackle into the hands of waiting defensive ends.
Result: The offense doesn’t have three and outs you build momentum.

Momentum Is Huge!!! When you fail on offense like the aforementioned the defense gets fatigued; before long their gassed. The defenses weaknesses are greatly exposed and are more easily exploited.

Discipline: Giving up 45 yards with late hits is unacceptable. You have to keep your head in the game.
Result: Don’t help the opponent extend drives; get off the field and keep building momentum.

Play Calls: You can’t just have a preset list of plays that you will run to start the game. In that package you have to have kill shot plays. You have to let the defense know that you are the bully. Tyson once said, “Everybody got a plan until they get hit in the mouth”. Take the fight to the opponent early let them know that you came here to fight; and you are not looking to win this thing on a late round decision.
Result: You set the tone; you gain respect and take momentum.

All of the above mentioned affects field position. Bad field position kills momentum.

Keys for Fans, Players, and Coaches:

Game Day Speeches That Are Used To Fire Up The Team:
Must be reflected in aggressive play and aggressive play calls.
>Your most energizing play calls of the game can’t only come late in the game when you are trying to win the game. It’s imperative that you bring this aggression to start the first half of the game. Get your punches in first!

Good Job In Listening To Outside Objective Criticisms:
Suggested changes appeared throughout the game. However, remember this is just a kick in the nuts; but we intent to break you down and in the end build you backup:
>We have to continue to work on widening the edges. The half foot splits are just too short for the run plays and the wide splits needs another six inches. When your RB's have space they are hard to hit because they can do their thing. Yearby was deadly tonight!

You Must Continue To Mix Up The Splits:
They are too predictable; they are telegraphing your run game and pass game.
>If I can call the play by looking at your splits pre-snap; I know the defenses are keying on this as well.

Tonight’s Set Formations, In Terms Of Width And Appearance:
Resembled more of a college line. We know that you're working on it; good job there for effort.
>We applaud your effort to make changes. You did as best as you could tweaking the offensive line in two days. So we will be the first to say good job with making an effort. We know it’s a work in progress.

When Your Line Gives The Quarterback Time In The Pocket:
Those wide pockets showed his greatness and he made spectacular plays against tight coverage! Tough kid, it's evident that he wants to win.
>You got to do a better job using your experience to make sure that the QB recognizes changes in coverage and blitz schemes so that he can do a better job insuring that the RB's knows that they need to be the sixth man in the protection schemes. Use the QB points of view to your advantage in reviewing last minute defensive adjustments.

Players Make Plays, Coaches Make Decisions And Decisions Determine The Outcome Of Games:
This holds true in all phases of the game. On your play chart you must circle Coley, Richards, Yearby and Herndon as your play-makers. These four guys are killing defenses!
>These guys are winning battles for you right now offensively. Put the ball more in their hands and let’s ride. These guys are explosive, making first defenders miss tackles, beating coverage and making plays when you need them and when your not expecting much.

Good lord. Unfortunately I see the team coming out flat (again), inability to convert 3rd down AND penalties, many at crucial points in the game. Not only has Kaaya regressed but special teams as well. The 3rd down/penalty fiasco is an instant replay of Goldie.

Referencing momentum and not citing Gary Danielson's belief that momentum doesn't exist is vexing.
