Same Prep school as Graig Cooper. We took Coooooper, Pitt took McCoy. Advantage, Miami.

One of the weirdest recruitments ever. From what I remember, UM recruited him at the start of the process and it was known he was a big UM fan, but we never made much progress. McCoy was an elite, elite recruit. There was this guy on canestime.com, SoonerBrian, who saw him play in HS and had been raving about him since he was a sophomore. Said he was going to be the best ever from PA.
I don't think he ever took a visit and UM fans assumed that we had dropped him. Never heard much about UM from him except maybe a courtesy mention on his favorite schools list, but the interest didn't seem real. Then on signing day, there were reports that he was dealing with his grade and ankle issues so that some schools were dropping him. He committed to UM on TV and everybody was like wtf? Reportedly, he hadn't been in contact with UM for months and Coker had no clue what was going on. Then he kept saying how he was going to sign with UM even though he was going to prep--which made sense, cuz UM has signed plenty of kids they knew were going to prep. But I don't believe that our papers ever got there and he never signed. Once that happened I knew he wouldn't come here.
A bunch of CIS-type superfans said Cooper was better than McCoy, cuz LM and Cooper were at the same prep school. Cooper played over McCoy because McCoy was still recovering from the ankle thing. UM never signed him (to my knowledge) and we didn't really make a true effort to bring him in, for whatever reason. Then he "de-committed" and committed to Pitt.

I was young then but he had all intentions coming here but didn't help things that he was backing cooper up a prep. Even though if you seen the guy play he was head a shoulders better than Coop. From the same small city Harrisburg Pa.
