It’s been a great and wild recruitment for the top-ranked player in the state of Florida, but Miami appears to be in a strong position as we enter the homestretch of the Caleb Gaskins sweepstakes.

Last week, I mentioned that I was feeling confident about Miami’s chances and nothing I’ve heard since has changed that. While Gaskins is still communicating with and entertaining other programs, the positive buzz around the Hurricanes continues to roll in.

For those who follow here or on Twitter, you know I’ve already placed my own “Breeze Ball” prediction on Gaskins landing at Miami and that hasn’t changed. I still believe he ultimately becomes a Hurricane.

Gaskins has said he wants to commit before his season tips off at Christopher Columbus, so a decision seems to be coming sooner rather than later.

On3’s Jamie Shaw has now logged a Recruiting Prediction Machine pick for Gaskins to land at Miami as well. The momentum continues to swing toward the Hurricanes, but Florida, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss remain the primary contenders to keep an eye on with Miami still out in front.

The 6-foot-8 forward from Christopher Columbus High in Miami is ranked No. 12 nationally in the Class of 2026, No. 3 among power forwards, and the No. 1 player in Florida, according to 247Sports.

I'm out of the loop when it comes to basketball recruiting. So I have no idea who we're looking at or who is realistic. But would landing Gaskins help us with Jaxon Richardson? Or is that not happening either way?

most would say we didn't have a chance and now Jax left/transferred out of columbus/miami, so I think that ship sailed

Gaskins is a good get for us. Won't affect Jax's decision however. There was some talk earlier in the year that Jax and family were thinking about other options outside of Michigan st. Not sure where that stands now.

Jax officially left Columbus last week. However, there was talk going around the past couple of weeks that he would be leaving after his coaches decided to sit him out of a nationally televised game they played a few weeks ago. Apparently he broke team rules. HC decided to sit him, so he decided to go live with his. brother in Orlando.

***** generation. Players been given too much power and its starting to show with the attitude changes.

Leaving your team, teammates, friends, and all you've put into it because you broke rules and got in trouble for it. So whack.

Texas A&M was Miami's only threat here. Gaskins has been telling Miami from Day 1 that he was coming. Many thought he'd officially commit back in the spring or summer. However, over the last few weeks his AAU team's director was trying to sabotage everything and work a deal with A&M. Happy to hear that it was all for naught. Gaskins, like most high schoolers still has a ways to go, but the potential is there. Plays hard and is tough. Will get after it on both ends of the floor. Love to see his offensive game starting to expand to the outside. Sky's the limit with this kid. GO CANES!!!

What’s good with this? Doesn’t he play for the NightRydas? Do we not have the inside track on that team anymore?

Sad to say, but with many folks in the travel basketball world there is no honor among thieves. Unfortunately, if someone in position of power believes they can get a better deal for themselves, they won't think twice about doing it. Not sure what the fall out will be moving forward between the staff and Knightrydas program. Going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.

IMO, the bolded part is def welcome news. Those attributes have really never been associated much with UM squads.
