Just wanted to hop on here tonight and share the latest I'm hearing regarding Oklahoma State transfer guard Arturo Dean.

From what I’ve gathered, it’s shaping up to be a Miami vs. West Virginia battle for him. I could see this one going either way. A decision is expected soon, though there’s no official timetable yet.

From the conversations I’ve had, Miami wasn’t showing much interest a few months ago. It seems they’re now exploring the possibility of adding him as a late piece, likely as a backup option behind Tre Donaldson and someone to round out the roster.

I can’t really give a prediction on where he will land. But Miami had the last visit with him yesterday.

Definitely keep it locked in here — a decision on his recruitment should be coming soon.

Has he learned in the last several months how to hit three pointers?

To my knowledge has only taken 2 OV's (West VA & Miami). No insight here, but feel pretty good considering who we're up against. I saw Arturo a few weeks ago in a local gym. He looked happy to be home. Hopefully, that bodes well for us. Could be a good addition to the team

I wonder what made Lucas and the staff change their minds between when we first circled the wagons on him (around April, IIRC) and now. Either way, I think he'd be a good addition to the team and I hope we land him.

I know I’m the minority but I loved watching Bennetts teams at Virginia compete night in night out. I am so looking forward to next season with dudes like this coming off the bench to get in your **** as an elite on ball/off ball defender that loves to compete on both ends

Those UVA teams were miserable to watch because of the excruciatingly slow pace they played. It can be fun watching a defensive minded team so long as they don’t average 40 possessions a game

young @Trinton Breeze learning a valuable lesson on why Gaby doesn't make any prediction that isn't couched in a lot of flip-floppyness until he is completely sure that his prediction will come true lol.

Should have always said something closer to "this ones a true toss up, but I think the canes can get it done".. lol

Those teams seemed to get bounced way too early, way too often come tourney time.

You do recall, don't you, that they won the 2019 NCAA Championship?
Yes. I also recall Tony Bennett making the tournament 10 times from the 2011-2012 through 2023-2024 seasons and losing in the first round or first four 5 of those times, including 3 of the last 4 seasons, with the 4th being an NIT year.

I will take regular tourney appearances in a heart beat, but that is a lot of early round outs.

Based on what I’m seeing on Twitter, it looks like West Virginia is close to landing Amir Jenkins.

If Jenkins commits there, Miami’s chances with Arturo Dean is really high.

Let’s close the deal! The more I think about Dean, the more excited I am. While his shooting numbers are concerning,,this roster is missing a veteran presence off the bench who can defend and provide a spark.

But I thought we needed shooting. Make up your mind.
Definitely need shooting, but one thing I think a lot of folks are overlooking is that some of these kids can work on that part of their game and improve in the offseason. Just as an example, Tru Washington is only a 31% shooter for his *career*, but he jumped from 28% his FR year to 33% last season. He might see another jump with more work. More work, different coaching, different conference/place...all could help.
