**** we really had a good shot for Collins if we had pushed for him.... Was in his final 3. Didn't know that. Glad we got one of the brothers

Not sure how to react to that article. I'm super glad that Willis is with the Canes now. But momma is one tough cookie. 3 and out, indeed.
 
Yeah, but she also doesn't think highly of Miami and the ACC. And wants her son to play immediately regardless of readiness. And wants him to choose a school where he can leave early for the paycheck. Pragmatic? Maybe. But I'm not sure it's a sound approach with 18 year olds

Payceck is what it is all about, degree or not, so why not. What I got out of it was that being in ACC hurt us bad. Perceptions matter and perception is ACC is little boy league. Anyway that was a very frank article. I like the woman. Maybe she can whip Al into shape for her baby boy.

She lived in sec country and that's all they know or perceived. However that will change people are starting to come around to the fact that the ACC sends a bunch of talent to the league now adays and far out perform the sec schools in production once they get there

That was a good read. She kept it real. Most parents would not have kept it that real.

The SEC has a very high impression of itself and with ESPN peddling the message nationwide you understand why she felt that way. I used to live in Louisiana and the south generally have a cult mentality. State the actual facts and they are shocked. It just sucks we have to be coached by morons
 
The ACC has more drafted, they do better in the pro's, etc. People are always saying this, but where's the numbers to support that? Serious question, I'd like to see a five or ten year comparison if one exists.
 
ACC probably has smarter players overall, because the schools are tougher academically. That might mean the players are more coachable and it pays off over the years, and into the pros.

I wouldn't dismiss this theory. Jimmy Johnson was supposedly an advocate of the smart player idea; he hated Prop 48s. Of course, this could have been a rationalization by Jimmy, since he was so frustrated for years by having to back off of good prospects who were marginal students.
