Georgia loses a surprising number of top kids from Georgia

They've (UGA) been recruiting nationally for almost 2 decades now (and really pushed for it under Kirby) plus only 25ish HS scholarships to go around in a talent rich state.

Metro Atlanta Kids have no loyalty to Athens, it's the rest of the state that loves the school

there are several other targets Miami is moving the needle with from the Peach State, including Top 100 Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson EDGE KJ Green, who easily could have been in the stock up category

Georgia has been playing from behind for some time with KJ Green. Part of that has been Georgia's ongoing evaluation of Green as he develops from what was a sub-210 frame into the more polished SEC-ready body he suits today.

Dawgs247 sources are told Kirby Smart had a chance to swing by Green's high school during his January statewide tour. During that visit, Smart built a strong relationship with Green. It helped lay some groundwork for continued communication between Green and the Georgia head coach. The Bulldogs aren't out of this one yet despite not being commonly linked to Green, though they're definitely still playing catchup with the likes of Alabama and Miami.

Getting him on a spring visit as soon as possible will be critical if Georgia hopes to bring him on a summer official visit.

This recruitment is headed for a dramatic finish. Four-star EDGE KJ Green out of Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson has set Aug. 8 as his commitment date, and the race appears positioned to stretch all the way there. For much of the past year, Alabama and South Carolina have traded momentum for the top spot. Now, entering the spring evaluation period, a third contender has firmly inserted itself.

Miami is making a serious move for the No. 37 prospect in the Rivals Industry Ranking.

“Alabama and South Carolina are still up there, nothing has changed, but Miami is really making a push and you can put them up there too,” Green told Rivals. “I haven’t been to Miami yet. April 3 will be my first time there.

“Coach Taylor came up to see me twice in January, and one time he had Coach Cristobal with him. They are so real, and them coming up to see me showed me a lot. Coach Taylor is a great coach with a lot of experience and he is a coach I know I can trust. He’s a Hall of Famer, so that trust goes a long way. Coach Cristobal has done a lot too. Miami is really coming on for me.”

Jacobs
Green
Whitehead
Forstall (probably longest shot win the group, haven't heard much lately)

maybe
Rojas ( I think he will move way up lists)
Bryant (tough to flip imo)
Sweeney (don't think we're involved)
Muhammed (I consider him more of a SSDE type with room to grow into DT, but he's really good imo)

All interchangable to me…Just get one as the DE headliner of the group. Two of the group is a fatality lol

Miami has inserted itself firmly into the conversation [of top teams] turning what looked to be a two team race [w/Bama and USCe] into a true three-way battle....JTs involvement has helped elevate Miami's standing.
