Good to see the board expanding. I’m fine missing on Lamar brown. But I’m not fine having all the eggs in one basket. Reminds me of Jon Richts pursuit of Michael Johnson jr

****, good pull on that one. I totally forgot about that.

You know Michael Johnson Jr IS STILL PLAYING FOOTBALL?!!?!?

He's on the Akron roster. Holy ******* ****, man.

2019 and 2020 at Penn State
2021, 2022, 2023 at FAU
2024 at Syracuse
2025 at Akron

Was gonna type a mopey post about last call at the panhandle truck stop lounge and the last lot lizzard chugging 3 shots.

But the tape is actually pretty good.likely not a kid that camps a lot.

Expanding the DL board, UM offered this Mississippi State commit on 7/8/25.

We struck out on everyone ranked high, so now we're pursuing dudes barely in the top 1000.

I agree we are definitely expanding the board after some misses… Which sucks. And if you whiff like that in the long run it ain't gonna work.

But what if the coaches are either laughing at or completely ignoring that rating and think it's way off?

History tells us that they're almost always wrong when they laugh off the ratings. Not always, but the exceptions prove the rule.

Lol, no it doesn't…Do you want the majority of class rated down there? Of course not.

He definitely looks athletic, but to call him a DT is a stretch. He looks and moves like a prototypical D-end in a 3-4 scheme.
He would have to put on a lot of weight to play inside at a D1 program. And be able to keep his quickness which seems to be his real advantage.

Definitely not the 300+ pounds DT that every one has been hoping for.

I mean...literally every statistical analysis I've ever seen on this, both within this program and for college football at large, shows that your hit rate improves as the prospect ratings improve.

What does history tell us when it comes to this regime and lower rated/“laugh off rating” kids?

This regime as a whole? Too early to tell with the new assistants …Now If we are talking CMC in genera? Moten wasn't highly rated, Tenn was the only other big time school after Colbie Young, basically no one knew who he was when he committed...Cooper will be what? a 3.5 year starter? Frederique shined in year 1 and big things are expected. We are pivoting to this kid, we tried to pivot to Lucas out of high school, and he ended up being one of the most sought after portal players after his frosh year. Jury still out on Dylan Day, McConathy, and a couple others

Obv a lot of flops as well

So I'd say some good, some bad?

It’s a lot more bad/flops than good brother, I can provide the #’s if you’d like. That’s the point that the poster who you replied to was trying to make. Maybe “almost always wrong” was too strong of language, but the odds aren’t in our favor there by a longshot.

I'm no scout but outside of 2022, there isn't a whole lot to get excited about there. When you sign someone ranked <500, the odds strongly favor them contributing very little.

So when we shift from DT targets being top 150 to in the 900s, that ain't good.
