The early signing period. Maybe not for some, but for others. Now will some kids want to wait to see what talent is added or gone from a team?
I know most of the kids in the portal will only be 1-2 years, but maybe a kid signs early and then sees some key members leaving.

What if a top wr signs w FSU and then Frenchie ups and leaves and the kid thought he’d play one or 2 years w a qb and now there is an unproven qb. Kid regrets his decision.
Or do we swing a kid like Bogle who committed when all of us wanted to blow the program up and now sees talent assembling at UM. Or a kid who did sign early b/c things looked bad maybe would have signed later based on the momentum.

Good points.

If I'm a blue chip recruit, I'm not signing until February. Look at all the head coach and assistant coach turnover. Imagine signing to USC thinking Kingsbury was gonna be your OC.

This portal thing is being to take on a life of its own, in our case, feels like the tree of life,.. So to speak

It's really only going to make a difference if the NCAA loosens its waiver process.

I can't see, for example, a top WR signing as a freshman and then transferring because of a QB change. The WR would have to sit a year and who knows what else will change in that time.

Excellent take. This could get interesting.

I bet the number of kids that will enter the portal next year will increase dramatically. There is no penalty for putting your name out there and it's a big hit so far. CFB Free Agency is upon us

If you wait till FEB, then you can’t enroll early. Enrolling early could be the difference between playing as a freshman or redshirting.
