JUCO Possibility

Rivals posted this article about a JUCO player wanting to be a Cane but unsure because of coaching situation. I don't have a rivals account. Anyone want to summarize? I may be mistaken but I don't remember any JUCO kids in the 16 class other than Aime a while back who decommitted and is now with FSU I believe.

Let's see Darrius Smith, Michael Whyche... idk but these juco DTs haven't really worked out well for the U. I'm sorry that we couldn't Wyche out on bail with a fundraiser, but he didn't work out at all.

He's friends or possibly related to Michael Jackson-Kerr. I would think he probably ends up here anyway. Early enrollee always helps

He wants to stay in a 3-4 scheme and we all know we are hoping to land a D.C. that runs an aggressive 4-3

My guess is that he enjoys being a rush end in a 3-4 (standing up). Honestly, I think any good recruiter can convince him that a 4-3 would be fine. Besides, there aren't a ton of 3-4 base defenses out there. I think if we can convince him we'd run a 4-3 and he'd be a 7 technique rush end, he can be convinced.

It's interesting how much of a crap shoot JUCO DTs vs DEs are. You much more likely to get an impact DE JUCO than a DT one.

On point, but I also think that is true of recruiting in general. Aside from QB, tackles (both offensive and defensive) are the hardest positions to evaluate. They are typically way bigger than the high school competition, for starters. Seems like, other than the occasional obvious "can't miss" guy like Laremy Tunsil or Sheldon Richardson, it is very difficult to project these kids out.
