Who would be opposed to him replacing Golden? One of the best playcallers I've seen and with his NFL connections, he would hire an elite DC as well. QBs would be attracted to him because of his resume and he's young and should be able to relate to kids.

Don't want to hear about his NFL head coach record. Despite last night's absurd call by Pete Carroll, everyone agrees that he is an elite coach. Carroll was a disaster at New England before he got picked up at USC.

adding this guy to the short list.

I'll pass. Give me Butch, Butch Davis, or Mr. Davis as my next head coach, please.

Why would he turn down an NFL HC gig for a mediocre (at best) college one... for half the money?

McDaniels is staying in NFL.
I don't see why we'd choose him over Chud.
Either way both are staying in the NFL.

Are we talking about the same josh mcdaniels that drafted tebow on the first round?

As others have stated, I think he is an NFL guy. Also, his brief stint without Tom Brady didn't end so well.

In the hypothetical where he is interested and so are we, **** yeah. Plenty of examples of failed NFL coaches coming to college and wrecking ****. Young and aggressive, so you know the recruits would respond to that. As someone mentioned, he would be able to field a nice staff too.

Yeah, he'll likely get an NFL head coaching gig after next season . . . but he'll pass and take a pay cut to coach at Miami? Probably not.

Josh McDaniels works great right now because he has a VERY strong boss that allows him to do his thing within a certain structured system. We already saw what he does when left with any real power.

Great mind....but a coordinator is his ceiling ...and should be.
sorry Vern

This. How many times has someone turned down the NFL for college? Harbaugh is the exception that proves the rule. And that's unique, because it's his alma mater, and they gave him Ft. Knox.
