Jon Richt QB Coach/ Diaz will coach LB

Cool, so all pieces filled if dugans is the guy for wr . Now on to signing day and spring ball

Would have been weird if Diaz didn't do linebackers. They need to know his philosophy the best. Richt with QBs has me indifferent becuase I know papa richt will make sure he spends time there as well

richt has been coached by his dad his entire life im sure the things he will be going over are things he has heard and seen 1000 times before

One coordinator and three position coaches on the defensive side. Two of the position coaches are first time college coaches. With Richt being hands on with the offense, you'd think he would have more defensive assistants than offensive assistants. Puzzling.

Also, unless Dugans is the other co-offensive coordinator - a role which seems like a stretch but originally intended for McClendan (former GA WR coach) - Richt becomes the other co-offensive coordinator. Odd.

yea that really makes me feel better about richt hiring his inexperienced son as qb coach (sarcasm)

Because there are more positions on offense? QB, RB, WR, TE, OL (5) vs DL, LB, DB (3)

But, with Richt spending most of his time on that side of the ball, why not add a FT LB coach?

Well Diaz is coaching linebackers so technically there is 4 different coaches for defense. How many could there be? He split up safeties and corners to give more direction and coaching to each individual unit. Linebackers is typically always the d coordinator and we got the best D line coach in the country.

I understand the problem ppl have with Diaz but there's no problem with the amount of staff for defense

Last staph had a DL, LB, DB and DC, correct? Kareem did some stuff too.

This one has DL, LB/DC, CB and S.

Diaz always coaches the LB's, You got the best DL coach in CFB. and then you have 1 coach dedicated to CB and another 1 to safety's. I am fine with that.

Because you can't double up on offense at any position they are all too different. What is someone going to coach TE/OL? TE/WR?

I mean they could have moved Jon Richt to an ops job and not had a real QB coach to hire a LB coach but that wouldn't be smart.

Richt wants to spend most of his time on the offense but he still has to be able to monitor other things going on and be a CEO instead of always being hands on. Its better to have someone at each position on offense like we do now then split the DBs instead of hire a full time LB coach. I'm sure Banda will be helping out with scheme and things like that with LB.

Yes but Coley doubled up as QB/OC, this time Diaz is doubling up with LB/DC and we are using a co coordinator system on offense so all coordinators are doubling and that allowed us to split S/CB.

That's what I'm getting at...hiring his son isn't ideal if the goal is to build the best staff possible. I understand why he did it. But, is Lil Richt a better QB Coach than CMR? Heck no. It's duplicative and unnecessary. Many offensive minded HC's or OC's serve as the QB Coach.

No no use crying....it's done. Hopefully, the kid shines.

Might be puzzling to you

This is similar to what Richt did when he hired Mike Bobo at UGA. Bobo learned under Richt for a few years then gave him the playcalling. Safe to say that was good move looking at UGA's offensive output during his time as OC. You can even say Bobo leaving UGA was the downfall of Richt there.

I am loving the chemistry of this coaching staff. Diaz/Panda are tied to the hip and will have the LBs and secondary humming on the same page, and no doubt Diaz will let Kul do his thing so that the DL will unleash as much havoc as possible.

on the offensive side, you got Richt 100% in charge of playcalling with Brown/Dugans passing down orders like obedient trustworthy lieutenants while eagerly learning the ropes under one of the best.....what a potent recruiting duo our Co-OCs will be oooooo weeeeeee.

If you're a QB, how can you turn down a good christian father/son team invested in your success and well being? I imagine those two going into a 5 star's home for a visit and just KILLING IT.

We are in good hands boys.

Jon Richt has been an assistant for a long time. It was time for him to move up to position coach. I'm sure he has goals of being an OC and HC one day so this is the next step and he's being trained by his dad

Shaq's first offer was extended on behalf of Charlie Strong /Loiusville by none other than Ron Dugans... The first HC to extend Shaq an offer was Mark Richt at UGA...small world...1st Recruiter. .1st HC ..1st School
