I agree keeping Baker is a dumb move, but I read somewhere that he's also under contract through next year? So if Manny fired him the University would basically be out on that money. I think he should go regardless, but after reading that I can't see why else he would have kept him on the staff.

FYI......I hope I can eat crow. Keeping Baker is a bad decision. UNC staff is cheering....and all back up QBs who we will face next year

If everyone involved is as bad as OP and his ilk seem to think then y’all should be celebrating bc they will be gone soon and there will be another HC and staff in place for y’all to hate.
 
So Patke is back but Telly isn't a recruiting level coach?

I'm more optimistic about the future of the program than I've been in years. Baker is a head scratcher, but it seems like the board is overreacting considering the guy is just a symbolic DC at this point. Is the situation ideal? No.

However, it's much better than where we've been at in years past. We are poised to win another 10 games, get another top ten recruiting class, and then we very well may start to roll. If not, Manny is hopefully gone and we start again.

Why does everyone think that a contract is some sort of magical document that pays you every cent, no matter what?

You don't think there are performance clauses that allow us to fire a coach? And that giving up RECORD numbers of points and rushing yards might just violate that contract's performance clauses?

Man its the story of the UM program since Shannon left.

i'll give Golden credit for 2 things, history has shown that the dude was able to identify talent, and he stick it out through the Shapiro BS....BUT keeping Coach No-D was the worst thing that he could possibly do. He actually had some solid dudes on D....and the CMR did the same **** with his son on offense ...now Manny and Baker.

How do you not recognize, this pattern if your CMD? Definition of INSANITY!
