Jerseys

Anything UM loves, uses, or projects - the NCAA hates.

Seemed like UM and LSU were the only teams that did that.

Well, back in the 70s, we had tear-away jerseys. Those were eventually outlawed.

I don't think every team used the half jerseys. Certain players wore them. UM liked them a lot. I had a Dan Morgan 44 half-jersey.

Did they really? I didn’t know know. I always thought it was just “old fashioned”. I love[d] those jerseys. They were such a statement

They banned the half jersey in the late 90s or early 00s, and here is an article about when the NCAA started banning the "rolling up" of the full jersey back in 2015.

Thanks. I really didn’t know this.

The second article doesn't mention it, but the NCAA changed the rule in the early 2000s to prevent the jersey from being MANUFACTURED too short, or from being "cut off" to be too short. Later in the 2010s is when players started rolling the jersey up underneath their pads.

It's called the Ray Lewis rule.
