Jeff Thomas - is he hurting us on punting field position?

It's just dumb to fair catch inside the 10. Chances are you take it out at the 25. Worst case it's downed where he's catching it anyway. Catching it is just risking a muffed punt/scoop and score.

The old adage used to be put your heels on the 10 if it's over your head let it go. It seems pretty simple and clear-cut to me.

It's not old and it didn't used to be. It's current and still is, and will always be. ESPECIALLY in college. In the NFL, the guys are so good they can put the ball around the 5 or closer with backspin a lot of the time, so if the returners see the ball with that trajectory at the 8 or so yard-line, they field it. But not in college. Yes, the 8 is better than the 1 or the 2. But how bout we just try to let one go over our heads once or twice and see what happens. My money is on the ball bouncing into the endzone when it lands on the 7.

How about trying to bluff the coverage team, very rarely do they know exactly where the ball is. Come up to fake a fair catch and hopefully the ball will roll into the endzone behind you.

This staff doesn't give a **** about special teams.
hmmm, Hedley is special teams. Seems that was a big issue solved by ST's. Baxa was decent last year and kicks out of the endzone, sad he became a basket head case CHOKING on short FG;s that were routine for him until the miss against the gator.
