Four-star safety Jalen Flowers released his top 10 on Monday as USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame and Ohio State made the cut for the Palos Verdes, Calif., two-way standout.
We take a look at some lead ponies in his recruitment and why about seven programs really could have the edge right now heading through his junior season.
Miami
Flowers was not planning to take a Miami trip but when he did, the four-star safety loved it and now the Hurricanes are quickly moving up into an even higher contender in his recruitment.
Coach Mario Cristobal is arguably the best head coach recruiter in the country and he’s made Flowers a priority along with position coaches Will Harris (who is from California) and Terry Jefferson and he’s also grown close with recruiting relations coordinator Frank Tucker. A source said right now the Hurricanes would be in his top four.
There was a little dust-up/misunderstanding with Miami crown jewel recruit A’mir Sears over the summer but Miami has seemed to quash any ill feelings moving forward. A source said the funny thing is Sears and Flowers have similar personalities and so could be great teammates together if Flowers chooses to go to Coral Gables.

The old me would say there’s no way this kid leaves the West Coast. Now, we make another postseason run and Fitzgerald continues on his trajectory then I believe we can get any S we want 
. They are really making him a priority, and we know how that usually turns out. Keep winning.
