The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker tells 247Sports at The Opening Atlanta that his recruitment remains fluid but two schools are leading the pack.

"Right now it’s Miami … and Georgia as well. Those are two top schools for me," Mayfield said.
Miami: “What coach Hetherman has done in his first year, taking them all the way to the natty in one year is really impressive. I feel like if he can do that for a whole team, he can also help me reach my personal goals."
Georgia: "Linebacker U, really. Coach Schumann has a great resume."

Mayfield is planning a July 17 decision date.

Next up, Mayfield sees Oregon (March 14), Georgia (March 21), Kentucky (March 28), Miami (April 4), Louisville (April 9), and Georgia Tech (April 14).
