Jahvontae dean discussion

He's signed with 1st round Management last year when Pete said he was a 1st/2nd rounder.

On the spectrum of UM DBs, I would place Dean somewhere between Sean Taylor and Robert Knowles.

Not really..I know one thing though...Mike jack had regressed back to the player he once was. Automatic completion whenever a ball is thrown his way. He’s been flat our average st best. Has 1 PBU on the year thus far.

Probably but i acknowledge mike jackson has given up a few yards. Yes but majority of it was vs Toledo i think 66 yards or something like that but for the whole season he had given up less than 110 yards in 5 games which is pretty good. And that’s including him guarding Deontae Johnson who is very talented, LSU #1 receiver Giles Jackson coming into the season and unc receiver Ratliff who is one of the more explosive players in the acc.

People probably don't go at Mike Jackson that much and really game-plan for him a little more than other DBs. He did have some anomalies during Toledo, but when you're as good as he can be sometimes you try to bait QBs into some action or get a little undisciplined, and when that happens you may get beat.

Is it me or does it seems like hes turning the corner the last 2 games after a disastrous start against LSU where he gave up 93 of their 140 passing yards ?

Dean is an average player. The UNC INT was thrown right to him - give him credit for making the play but let's not all of a sudden base that on his improved play. JMO

That said, we need him to step up the rest of the way.

He’s been less noticeable on the field in terms of miscues the last 2 games. He obviously was beat badly vs LSU and I remember The Toledo he had a miscue or 2 there as well

The reason why you don't see Jackson making as many plays as last year is because the receiver he's covering is rarely targeted. More often than not, that's a good trait to have as a corner; when you're rarely mentioned because you're not being thrown at.
