The Hurricanes seem to have the inside track in this recruitment. Carey is the son of former Hurricanes safety Marcus Carey, who played with Miami head coach Mario Cristobal on the Canes’ 1989 and 1991 national championship teams. Cristobal visited Carey at his high school during the winter contact period and is obviously moving the needle with him and his family.

While St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) cornerback Jaden Carey didn’t mention Miami among the three schools making the strongest push for him (he answered Ohio State, Florida and Auburn), the Hurricanes are still in the mix for the four-star defender. Carey has plans to visit Miami on April 4.
