Randy and Golden are very different guys with similar results. I think Shannon was frankly just lazy/disinterested in the recruiting venue and thought he could make it work with whoever. He also wasn't organized or charismatic. Golden is polished and works hard including recruiting I believe. Unfortunately he has no interest in the ultimate prize--he is content eeking out tough victories against middling teams and finishing 8-4. I think Shannon is best served as an assistant where he's not a face of the program and doesn't have to manage everything. Golden can be a head coach somewhere like Temple (again) where 7-5 is fine and players celebrate middling wins.
