It's really hard to blame Diaz for this...

We have an administration that couldn't give a rats *** about their athletic department (and never did), and any successes we've ever had over the years have been in spite of the morons running the university.

Consider:

- Paul Dee hired the DC from a failed coaching regime because 'the players wanted him'

- Jim Larranaga had to beg Shawn Eichorst for an interview after we tried and failed to hire Frank Martin

- Kirby Hocutt hired a coach with a 27-34 career record and he may have actually been the best coach we've had since Butch left

- The university decided to promote an interim AD who's only other stop was at the University of Maine

- Our splashiest sports hire of the past twenty years was a guy who had just gotten fired and who we had to beg to not retire from the profession

- Blake decided to promote the son of our biggest donor to head baseball coach even though it was abundantly clear that the program needed/needs new blood

Manny was the beneficiary of some amazing luck and timing and had no business being hired as a P-5 HC.

The problems do start at the top, but that doesn't mean Diaz isn't a part of it. He shouldn't have been hired, I mean GIVEN the job. Saying he was hired would imply that there was an interview and some sort of competitive process but that obviously was not the case.

The administration is to blame for hiring him in the first place but Manny is 100% to blame for the loss. 2 weeks to prepare and gives up 21 in first quarter. It's as if the team doesn't ******* practice.

Oh **** no it's not. Who hired Enos, Baker, Stroud, and Barry? Did Diaz hire them or did the Admin?

Diaz sucks as a head coach. Poorly prepared team for all of our games sans UF. But it isn't his fault that he was hired.. you’re right

It’s not his fault that he was hired, but it IS his fault that he ran his mouth off about how great he was, about TNM, about how much of an upgrade he was gonna be over Richt, etc. That’s not a good look when this is what you produce on Saturdays.

I get what the op is saying. It’s like getting mad at Zion Nelson for getting regularly abused in games. He’s a 2* dumpster dive prospect. It’s not his fault he’s not good enough to be here. How would he not take a scholarship and come? It’s our staffs fault for recruiting him and starting him. Same thing for manny. He’s a slightly above average defensive coordinator that had the chance to take a job at a P5 school he had no business getting. It’s not his fault Blake hired him. He wasn’t ready but he’s not going to say no. The AD made the decision to go with a corch. Manny should have never been the pick to begin with.
