Could this season have turned out special if not for Golden and Co.? It makes me sick to my stomach to think about how much talent we have wasted in the past 5 years and although this year has started off ok, we all know it's a matter of time before we sh*t the bed against someone we are supposed to beat (i.e Nebraska last week).
If we had a coaching staff that possessed above average knowledge on how to run a football team, this team could have very well contended for a top 10 finish and perhaps even better. Everything seems to have fallen into place, although Canes fans worldwide can agree that Golden and No D will find some way to f*uck it up.
[*]we are 3-0 with a very winnable game against a Cincinnati team with a banged up QB and a horrific defense
[*]Next up would the weakest F$U team in a while. They have a very poor offensive line and a hit or miss QB. Cook is there only dangerous weapon but as the game against BC showed us that by forcing Golson to throw and run blitzing a majority of the time, Cook can be contained. Their defense is decent but they really haven't been tested.
5-0 going into a home date with IMO an overrated Clemson team and this fan base hypothetically speaking would be rocking. We have a stud QB in Kaaya and a solid duo at RB consisting of Yearby and Walton. I hate D'Nofrio as much as anyone else on this board, but there have been some improvements including more pressure on the opposing QB. We have some ballers on D: Corn, Bush, and Carter can flat out hit.
Instead we acknowledge that we are 3-0 but know that it will all head south soon, and rightfully so. I know i'm beating a dead horse here, but Golden's signature win arguably came 3 days ago in what would have been one of the most epic collapses in a while. Until he proves otherwise, the pressure to succeed will mount with each game and IMO, his luck will run out soon.
