Is there even one innovative team out there?

Watched way too much football this holiday season and after a while they all blur together. We complain when our team is predictable but so is every other team. The only difference is the color of uniforms and some have slightly more talent. When we dominated we looked unique but hey, I know, I know talent wins out but I wish there was some team that is unique enough to be changing the game. The last innovation I can think of has been the wildcat but that's been around a long time now and I think came from the pros. Am I missing by not watching "a team that is unique"? What team might that be? What coaching staff is different? Are we stuck with the same ole, same ole every game?

Maybe there is a high school team that is innovative. I saw where one high school team had a WR act like he was leaving the field only to turn up field wide open and score. I like the Detroit Lions snap between the QB's legs to a wildcat RB or the Dolphins blind pass by Tua but innovation usually starts with the colleges. Is there a coach that is different AND successful? I miss Bobby Bowden and the wild chances he took like the fumblerooski. Dennis and his One Back offense. Even Spurrier had some tricky stuff. Where are the innovators????? and yeah, I wish we had one.

Looks like UGA is going to 3xpeat….

Troy Taylor of Stanford does a lot of crazy stuff. Really wide splits with the linemen. Motioning offensive linemen. Lining up receivers inside of the tackles. Option plays. Some crazy trick plays. Mixes it in with a zone running scheme and air raid passing concepts. Will be interesting to see if he can get anything going at Stanford. Apparently it is virtually impossible to take portal players there so he basically has to build entirely from recruiting HS players.

I feel since the NFL has embraced this uptempo spread offenses more the coaching pool talent up there has only increased…

Guys like Kellen Moore who would have been at Boise state instead of cutting their teeth as the cowboys OC

The Mike mcdaniels, Sean Mcvays of the world all got to be on young up and coming staffs and now they’ve branched out and fill their staff with young forward thinking guys like they were… no longer do they linger in college pushing the limits

Did you see U of Washington today run a play with 3 players in motion and 3 different formations to pick up a vital first down? That was pretty amazing.

When we dominated, we ran a true pro set offense.(other than the Dennis Errickson years). The difference was that we ran NFL passing concepts… and we ran it with loads of future NFL talent, at erry position. We were present day Bama/UGA. Whatever we ran, became what other teams tried to run. The secret sauce, if you will, was the talent level of the kids, that we were running those schemes with.

Northern Alabama runs some crazy plays consistently.

FSU has some of the best fakes on special teams.

overall, I see lots of transition happening. UGA for example runs three different offensive schemes in one. UCLA ran the wing T to win a game early this year. We used the KC chiefs motion play for the George TD.

The biggest rule change IMO was the clock. Most coaches haven’t adjusted. If I were HC, I would be running tempo all day to increase snap counts knowing the TV timeouts would give my team breaks.
