Is there a reason teams don't run a little triple option every now and then?

Since it's so hard to stop if you're not prepared.. why don't we or some others mix this in their play?

we got dj in the wildcat, is it that hard to implement?

Bro...we can't get Richt's 4 plays figured out. You want to add the triple option to that mess?

The chiefs run it with Tyreek Hill and I came here right after they ran it and said no one could stop us if DJ ran triple with Homer at back and Thomas as the pitch man a few times a game.

Need a stud fullback for it to be successful more often than not. Kind of a lost position and why GT has never had continued success year in and year out.

Most teams have the concept based out of the spread. I'm pretty sure we've done it a couple times this year? I think for the most part you're gonna need a good play caller to set it up because an offense like paul johnsons or the wing-t is based around efficiency.

The quarterback has to make split second decisions on whether to give to the dive, keep, or pitch. You also ideally want smaller more athletic knee divers for offensive linemen to stop penetration, which can kill an option attack.

Helps to have a Lawrence Phillips and Tommy Frazier running your offense as well.
They were studs man, I watched them beat us for the ship in 94. We still should have never ever lost that game. People bring up 87, 02, well we crapped the bed against them. That is the one that stung me the hardest.

As others have stated, it take great timing and a great QB who runs it all the time to be successful. We would have to spend too much practice time on it for a few plays and if they didn't work, it could be a disaster of a play or even a turnover.

You dont need a full back, it doesn't have to be flexbone triple, or wishbone. I thought when we run 20 personnel with Homer and Dallas as the backs, you could run it from the gun. Like Baylor used to do with RG3. There is the potential there to do it, and I wouldn't hate it. It just needs timing and practice. We are too busy running 4 verts and then converting those to switch routes, which takes way too much memory and brain power. Oh we also have hitch routes to practice, as long as they are short of the markers.

I don't think it's nearly as easy to run as you think. Put it this way, we don't run our real plays very well, what makes you think we can add in something completely different?
