For over 20 years, we’ve been the redheaded stepchild (no offense to redheads). Convicts. Mid. Can’t win the big one. Lose games we shouldn’t. Is Miami back?

It was astonishing to hear the majority of the media back us getting into this years playoffs. Say what you will about Mario (and there’s certainly things to criticize) but he was out there every day the past week presenting a strong case for us to be included. Whether or not his efforts had any influence on us being included is debatable but it can’t be denied he did everything in his power to present our case.

Being included in this years playoffs is another step in the “process”. Sure, it would have been an easier decision if we hadn’t lost 1-2 games we shouldn’t have but this current team is a far cry better than it was 4 years ago and we wouldn’t even be in the conversation without Mario’s relentless work.

Are we Byke? It sure seems we’re turning a corner and headed in the right direction. Whatever the outcome on 12/19, we can be encouraged that we’re finally being talked about in a very positive manner and there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Media misses Miami bc football is better with us but don’t confuse that with media wanting us to win it all again and again. That is the biggest fear. But nice to have them root for us again.

No. If we never played each other we would be booking flights to the Gator Bowl. They couldn’t run away from the H2H after the media started pounding the table for it these past 2 weeks. They did their best to **** us.

100% Mario had a decisive role.

1. he is just a likable guy. he doesnt' bull****, he is pretty calm and even tempered and just laying out the story honestly

2. Miami is RELEVANT for really the first time in 22 years.

yes, we beat ND and Vtech in 2017 and then lost to unranked Pitt and the bowl game to Wisky

THIS IS OUR CHANCE.

hopefully the boys know it that they will go down in history as the team that turned everything around

I’m not worried as I’m sure Mario will keep everyone focus on the next day’s game

It could be big for us. I actually never thought we'd get in without winning the ACC, but here we are.

For what it's worth, I think that over these last 4 games, this team learned a lot about what it takes to win games in conference in November against teams that are gunning specifically for you. I hope those lessons carry over to future years.

I hate to say it, we have to beat Texas A&M for the narrative to really change. Miami hasn’t won 11 in 22 years.

What Miami has? Momentum, Talent, and a weak conference.

Moving forward, Miami has to be 10-2 or better as the acc isn’t going to get a second team in that has 3 losses.

I’m a little shocked Danny hasn’t been pushing the Canes Connection. Something has to pay for the best staff and players in the acc.

The only thing that changed was the fact that "The Narrative" was forced to support the Canes this time. Here's the critical factors as I saw them:

* Clemson fall forced the ACC to need a giant. Duke winning the ACCCG solidified it.

* The committee's primary goal is to maximize TV revenue. I believe there was a legitimate concern from the media executives that selecting ND over Miami would have a negative downstream effect on future bigtime out of conference scheduling. Miami vs ND, Ohio State vs Texas, and Alabama vs FSU were all serious moneymakers earlier this year.

* There truly was a national outcry for Miami because of the head to head win. I think the politicians on the committee created this by trying to cram the notre dame square peg into the playoff round hole every week. The more they did it, the more random CFB fans got ****ed.

In summary, the narrative needed to support Miami this year for its own credibility and survival.

The media has loved us since the ND win. We followed that with two more ranked wins in 5 games. They love our trenches especially. That is how you get respect because that is how the big boys are built. We had our hiccups then proceeded to start rolling teams again. The media didn't forget and the committee never judged us early in the season. Took them a while to come around.

I don’t understand how it was a debate. I’m just surprised they used some logic. Feels like pure luck we snuck into a rigged system.

Agreed. The narrative of this was best said in the following line I seen someone create....

Catholics vs Common Sense
