September 23rd. For those who were going crazy over on when the announcement would be... It's an event and they wanted to plan it accordingly

The wait is over. The announcement is coming.

Miami will reveal publicly plans for an on-campus indoor football practice facility on Friday, Sept. 23, a source with knowledge of the matter told The Post on Sunday morning. The timing coincides with the Hurricanes’ bye week.

If the party is anything like Miami’s Adidas uniform unveiling at Club LIV last July, those involved will have a good time.

The project will cost an estimated $28 million and is slated to open in 2018. According to those who have seen the plans — coaches, players, high-ranking boosters, at least one reporter and naturally, prospective recruits — the facility will cover the existing turf sections of Greentree Practice Fields, which are 50 and 85 yards long. It will include expanded meeting and office spaces, weight room and training facilities.

Athletics Director Blake James could not be reached for comment.

UM is one of the only major college football programs without a place to practice indoors. The construction of an indoor facility has been a top priority of James’ for several years. Soon after coach Mark Richt arrived Dec. 4, he began publicly campaigning for one. He later pledged $1 million of his own money toward the project.

Just in time for the first game of the season! ;-)

I heard UF wanted to do an 85 yard IPF but McElwain demanded a full lrngth 100 yards. So will this continue to be a recruiting weakness used by FSU and UF?
Can't tell if sarcasm or not... But for your sake I hope it is

It's a legitimate question, and the answer is yes, schools will probably use it to negative recruit. However, I don't see that being effective, especially if it is very nice, which by all accounts it will be one of the nicest.

Hey....if it's covering two fields that are 50 and 85 yards long, that's pretty **** big facility. We'll have a bigger weight room, amongst other things. Every 'Canes fan should be excited.

I've read somewhere an 80 yard main field with a large area on the side for like OL and DL work as well as for guys recovering from injury can get work. It's going to be a very unique facility.

breaking new.....schools will alswys neg recruit against us. if the fuggin IPF were 200 yards long they would say "its too big...why would you go there"

I like our current leadership and the direction we are heading. Go canes!!!!

Richt has built more without pillars and bricks than his predecessors
