Interior oline improvements

For some reason I trust Barry more than Searles. If Barry says Zion is ready, I’m rolling with the dude.

Props to Barry for having a plan and sticking to it. They probably tried a few combinations but the very first OL unit in camp featured Nelson, Donaldson, Gaynor, Scaife left to right, and that's what proved to be the best we got.
That’s been our constant group and it’s going to mean something for continuity and how well they play together. The only true battle we had was with Herbert and Campbell for 1 spot on the oline

this is what happened at LSU last year. We have a much better QB and OC to deal with this.

LSU we got physically dominated more than anything, IMO. Their DL played on our side of the LOS all night. That goes back to the interior OL point that started the thread. I don’t see that happening consistently this week. I’m more concerned about blitz identification with the young kids.

But I’ll be surprised if these 5 kids just get mauled physically. The gator didn’t have a dominating defense last year and they won’t this year.

That’s a big difference folks..

We aren’t talking enough about how improved the interior play will be this year. Miami should be very solid up the middle and starting a first time qb especially one that is mobile I would rather deal with pressure that possible could come from the outside than inside which can be mitigated by quick passes, chipping , moving the pocket amongst other things etc. In addition to that jarren could step up and move around in the pocket if outside pressure happens. the 2019 interior line will be much more gifted than last years oline

On another note, On the outside at tackle while Campbell is a redshirt freshman and that enrolled early, he’s been at Miami **** near 2 years almost and had a strong camp. Yes we are starting Zion Nelson but we have to think about it, he’s been a solid fixture in the starting lineup **** near day 1 and seems to be impressing with no one said to be taking any of his reps
I guess our talent on OL wasn’t very good last year.

He received the honor based off of number of starts, not based on actual tape review (which is no shock when it comes to these type of awards).
Who were all the freshmen OL better than Scaife based on your extensive film review?

The problem with the new lineup is that they have all played and they have all played poorly.

You would play poorly if other defenses knew exactly what you are going to do . Like I said, we should see improvement there, the new system applies to everyone and we have better talent in the interior of the Oline going against a team like uf. It’s going to be a difference

A lot of criticism of Gaynor in this thread. He came into this program without elite size. That’s why he was a three star. However, his technique allowed him to see the field as a true freshman. Now that he is in year three, people should be excited about him.
