I happened to come across this little tidbit when reading about Jonathan Cyprian the FIU safety from North Miami Beach who starred at the Senior Bowl and is now projected as a 1st round pick by some. It turns out the other big school after him was Temple. It's just one data point but seems to fit a pattern just as Bernard Pierces performance this post season is.

It'd be a lot easier if we could keep all the locals but given that's not happening, just need to hope Golden can keep finding these guys. Who would have thought the best running back in Florida a year ago was playing at FAU.

Great talent evaluator, had more early draft selections at Temple than we did here the last few years.

Even at Miami Golden has already started to find some hidden gems that are paying dividends as only Sophomores!
The following in order best performance divided by hype:
Eddie Johnson, Olsen Pierre, Rashawn Scott
And he only had a month to find these guys!
As for the freshman who are overperforming their star ranking ( note: some of these guys are just greentree all americans due to the fact theyre only freshman):
Ladarius Gunter (can you believe some had him as 2*?), Rashawn Jenkins, Antonio Crawford, Nate Dortch, Jontavious Carter

Thats 8 hidden gems in his first two clases which have already begun to pay off, and his first class was assembled in less than a month. The most any of these guys have gone through is one u tough which means they were at this skill level in high school and were just THAT overlooked. Imagine these guys as redshirt seniors, not only taking into account talent evaluation but growth potential, this man knows how to find skilled players.

It is my belief that with this talent in mind, Golden can easily take us up to 10 wins a year even if we miss all the big fish. Which is promising, because then were no longer mediocre and once that happens the big recruits will come to us

He found Dalton Botts too. That was a huge get.

Think about where we'd have been without him the past two seasons.

Great points, tho as I recall Olsen Pierre was going to Temple and followed Golden to UM.

you haven't heard...according to insiders and twitter..all those guys are transferring....

YOU have great points..we are Boise right now winning with no name kids...soon that will change

Doesn't matter how many hidden gems you find if you can't sign the marquee recruits too.

That is true, and he did have more time to scout him, but he still did find him

After this recruiting cycle and seeing the venom that is in South Florida. His evaluation and development skills move to the top of the board of importance.

We're not completely striking out. If we can't as many as we'd like we have to find the gems. If you look at the premier NFL WRs from the state, AJ and Bowe were elite HS players while Brandon Marshall and Antonio Brown were hidden gems. Same with running back, you Gore- moderately and CJ and Alfred Morris who were not.

Lot's of good players out there. Just need to find them.

Doesn't matter how many hidden gems you find if you can't sign the marquee recruits too.
