INSTANT REACTION: Fall Practice #4

Hot take

Barrow will be our 2nd best DL this season. I think he is going to bully this conference and play himself into an early day 3 draft pick. He will get much better pass rushing opportunities than he has ever had this year too because of the focus on our edge guys.
more praise for campbell ... didn't realize he's a 6th year guy ...

- Anthony Campbell has been a pleasant surprise with the way he has developed year-over-year. A sixth-year senior who transferred in from Louisiana-Monroe last year and played only eight defensive snaps in 2023, Campbell figures to play a bigger role in 2024. At 6-feet-7 and 300 pounds, Campbell has added strength and power to his lower half over the last year and it shows on the field. He will be in the mix for Miami’s fourth or fifth defensive tackle role. In terms of snap count, Thomas Gore was UM’s fourth defensive tackle in 2023 and he totaled 167 snaps.

Reminds me of an occasion where my brother and I attended UM at Temple game. This was in the early 90s and we hung outside the locker room after the game to get an up close and personal look at our players (absolutely no homeux). Anyways a couple of players came out of the locker room when my brother asked who they were. He was Dumbfounded when I told him they were two of our olmen, remarking how small they were. Granted my brother was in the 6,2/230lb range at the time and was a pretty good fb player in his day. Anyways, I had to ask him to stop saying this because one of the other players heard this and there were family members around us. He was right, regardless of what was listed on the rosters, we had smallish linemen.
Being in Pa at the time, I really miss the Big East days when they would crush everyone on a regular basis up this way. Spoiled forever

And attending those games at Temple was like attending intra-squad scrimmage with only a few thousand fans at the game, with 90 percent wearing Orange and Green.
