As much as I hate to admit it, we were the greatest dynasty, but I feel like we've just been surpassed. I also think this solidifies Saban as the best coach today and he's in the discussion for all-time.

Thoughts?

Just like Bama ended our first dynasty In 1992, I hope we can end theirs in the near future.
 
I mean 5 championships, you have to put him in the conversation for GOAT just by all of the rings.
 
They have the best in the modern era, but they also get all of the breaks in regards to the media (AP writers, selection committee, ESPN), officials, etc.

They are the only team in CFB who is allowed to lose 1 game a year and still make the playoffs (or play for a title like in years past).

So you give the best players, with the best coach, and an unlimited budget... all of the breaks = 4 titles in 7 years.

Think about Jimmy Johnson and what he would've done. Think about how many more titles we would've won & played for if we got the media favoritism that Saban and Bama gets. Off the top of my head '88, '00, '02.

Oh well - it's what makes The U a special place. It's always been us against the world.
Guess we have to be the ones to end Saban's run.

I don't think there's any question that Saban is at the top all by himself. 4 National Titles in 7-8 years and 5 overall. That's just insane! I think the more interesting question is if his legacy will surpass that of one Paul"Bear"Bryant by the time he is finished.
 
College football is better when Miami has a decent team . Let's hope with a proven coach we can be competitive again. The PTB sure won't give us any breaks getting back....not even with a respected coach like Richt.

we won 2 titles out of the big east and 3 as an independent (with the best schedule every year as an independent). At one point, for 6 straight years in 80's early 90's we played the #1 team in country and won all 6.

I'm guessing you're not old enough to know what you're talking about?
 
They win the SEC almost every year. You got to give respect were it is due and they have a dynasty. Saban is the best ever and I think he has a few more in him.
 
Just imagine what Howard, Jimmy, or Butch could've done here. Our blessings may have been curses but I aint mad....

Off topic a little but I actually think Harbaugh, while not as accomplished as Nick Saban, Harbaugh is the best coach in CFB.

If he stayed out for about 10 years at Michigan he will get them 2-3.
 
So the majority of this board is gonna seemingly forget what the process was for bama to thrive year in and year out? The darling conference gets a pass while seemingly appearing to be a dynasty? The media acts like they play in the **** near NFL and when they make a mistake it's swept under the rug but let a UNC make the same mistake earlier and NEVER recover from it? If Clemson lost one game the ACC would've been shut out the playoffs easily and no one would've said a thing about it. Saban for as dominant as he's supposed to be doesn't get respect when a media hype train and shady business has put him there. ROLL DEEZ.
