The biggest mistake made with the Richt hire was our AD allowing him to be his own OC and hire his inexperienced son as QB coach. I say that for these reasons:

Miami has struggled on offense for years. We needed offensive innovation.

Richt was removed from his play calling duties at UGA. That was red flag number one.

If Richt insisted on being OC then we should have declined. He did not succeed at UGA as a play caller. A good AD would have seen that it would not be different now that the game has advanced and he is older.

Miami has been mired in almost two decades of bad coaching. We should not have allowed one of the most important coaching positions to go to a guy with no experience, relative or not.

If the demands to be HC were to be the OC and son as QB coach, then we simply should have moved on and hired Butch.

He coached one of the most talented programs in the country for 15 years and didn't sniff a national championship. That's all you need to know.

As a HC level leader, you must always be able to hire and fire ruthlessly, all members of your staff.

Golden's blind spot was D'No, Richts is himself (as OC) and his son (supposedly he is QB coach).

B James SHOULD HAVE PROHIBITED allowing any leadership positions in having family members on staff as a bare minimum.

Its leadership 101...both James and Richt seemed to have skipped that day of class.

The Jon hire was questioned by all. The hope was he would learn on the job quickly. But never in my wildest dreams did I feel Richt would show up as Rix level OC. My hope was his offense would be supreme enough to cover up his sons deficiencies. Something like 3-1=2. Instead it’s 0-2= -2.

I look at MR and JR ineptness like this.

We have 4 qbs on the roster 3 of which they directly recruited and yet they haven’t recruited one QBs that can beat out a leftover backup from the prior regime.

This in itself tells me all I need to know about their player evaluations.

All points I agree on but the only thing you got wrong is it wouldn’t have been Butch, it would have been Schiano.

Biggest mistake was hiring him in the first place. Should have never hired a coach who had just been fired for underachieving. Miami needs a coach who is hungry and doesn't take **** from the administration.

That’s not what I recall. Davis was in the final stages of being hired before Richt was contacted.

lol. I remember when he was first hired and I asked why haven't any NFL teams wanted this guy? Pass. Well, here we are and now most want the guy gone lmao
NFL? Richt would smoked by decent high school coaches. Im not even joking.

Barry Jackson and Manny Navarro are saying there's zero chance he's fired, even next year. However, will be pressure to make offensive changes. I think we all mostly know this but kind of officially confirmed. This is all assuming Richt doesn't get hit by a bus or something.

Been obvious for 2 seasons now. We fvcked.
I’m so depressed 1mg! I feel just how I did in 2014 back In the old canespace days. Angry, indifferent, sad, fighting with other canes fans on here just like I was fighting with other canes fans on canespace. Smh I really thought we turned the corner last year but it was mirage and it’s back to hopeless misery. Fu<k!!!

Not true my friend. Butch was just a curtesy interview to shut up a faction of the fan base. Ask anyone with some knowledge about 2015 and it was schiano till the day Georgia fired Richt and then Blake was on a plane up north.

How are staff decisions still in MR's hands? Miami admin always on standby "letting things play out" as HC's drive off a cliff.

I’m not happy with him right now but your statement is just not accurate, he “sniffed” a championship twice and I don’t remember what year it was but it was the year that LSU beat Ohio State, if there was a playoff system that year, Georgia would have won it easy, instead they had to play Hawaii in the sugar bowl. He is definitely struggling as a playcaller but I think he’s a solid head coach.

I don't care if he even sniffed a championship. He's never made it to th national championship as a head coach. Dude is going down as the most winningest coach with 0 championships.

If that is true then firing Richt gets us nowhere. What that means is Miami is no longer a desirable job. No one, I mean no one was has tried to hire Shiano. Maybe the new facilities and the IPF makes this a desirable job now. But that’s a big if knowing we were down to a Shiano. Best case scenario is Richt hands over the offense to a hot shot OC, Diaz stays on and Richt becomes a good CEO type coach.
