you know the rest. That loss took a lot out of us die hard fans. It hurts because we can't understand exactly why it happened, but it did. I'm not ****ting you, it puts us die hard fans in state of depression and leaves us scratching our heads and looking for answers when we see a Hurricanes team play like that and we have seen it for years. This year was going to be different. I expected 9-3 at worst, maybe even 10-2. I may have had too high of expectations and should have taken more stock in what others have said about our talent level. We have some nice players to build with and some that are not so good backing up or even starting. We have to build depth/talent and that takes time.
To be successful I think you have to do a few things:
1. Control the lines of scrimmage (on offense, it allows you to run the ball, which is a must against the big boys. On D, it allows you to control the run and give your QB time)
2. Eliminate the other team from explosive plays. (We are very weak at this). Why, I am not sure, we have some talent in the backfield, but weak at corners. Keep **** in front of us.
3. Play disciplined football. (Penalties, turnovers). 3 TO's in the first 8 mins, enough said. Penalties, not too bad.
4. Execute. Poor display of this also.

I believe it was a combination of bad play calling, bad effort and poor coaching. All this falls on Mario and he needs to get it right.
We all want it done quickly, but I don't think it is that easy. I need to be more patient and just start looking for improvements as the weeks go by this year. I have to believe we have a good staff in place and they can get the boys there (with a lot of portal and recruiting help) in the next 2-3 years. Problem is, my patience has been expended.

I think we all need to dig deep to find a little more patience and give Mario and staff time to work. We cannot abandon ship this early because it will do no good. We need to support this team through all the changes they are facing. Who know, in a couple years, we may look back on the process and say it was worth it. We will not know that until year 2 or 3 in Mario's era. I know this, I cannot live without Canes football and I have to find the patience and belief that this program will turn around. We have all we need coming down the pipeline, except the one thing us fans are not willing to give this staff, time.

Here's to hoping for better days ahead, boys. Saturday hurt our pride something deep. Bow up and accept it and we keep working and move on and support this team. We have a lot to fix.
Go Canes!!!
