If you could advise Richt...

I think most of us agree that Richt is an excellent coach. Yet to date he hasn't proven himself a championship caliber coach. So if you could give him one piece of advice, something that you think would lead to more Miami rings, what would it be? Not in terms hiring this or that coordinator or replacing Swasey, but in terms of his coaching style/philosophy or his approach to recruiting.

To get the ball rolling, what i would advise is something that Butch said in regards to recruiting: that if a recruit asks about the depth chart at their position, move on to another kid. That to me is what made Miami special back in the day. Having players that were both confident and mentally tough. So i would advise Richt to seek those type of recruits and steer clear of the prima donnas, even if it might mean missing out on getting a top 3 rated class and ending up with, say, a 7th rated class instead. There'll be plenty of talent. That should never be the issue at Miami. But get kids who want to win championships more than just wanting to put together a few good games their junior year and then hope to impress scouts on Pro Day with their off-the-chart testing ability.

his offense won a champ at FSU. and he has 2 rings. people are ignorant.

oh he didnt do it at georgia. this is the ACC coastal ffs.

So because he never won a championship, he needs advice from people who probably have never even coached a game of meaningful football in their lives, especially not at as high a level as Richt.

I would tell him to hire an aggressive 4-3 or 4-2-5 attacking coach that takes advantage of the local studs. He knows enough about Qbs and offense.

That's how football fans think. They all believe that they know they game 5% better than the best coach out there. So a guy like Richt would naturally turn to the fans for help.

Don't listen to retarded alums suggesting that you hire a bunch of high school coaches.

I would hand him Mark D'Nofrio's telephone number on a napkin, tell him to light a match, set said napkin on fire, put it through a wood chipper, bury it outside of town, drive away and never look back.

georgia lineman and s fla athletes is a scary combination. its only a matter of time before we are back

I would tell him to hire a DC who runs an aggressive scheme that relies on quick reads and speed.

Then I'd tell him to reach out to every major high school coach and administrator at high schools in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Then get major facetime with the coaches at Northwestern, Carol City, Central and all the other major producers of D-1 talent and become good friends with those guys.
