Ice & Rolle to FAMU

I played AAU basketball with Willie for about 5 years. He signed at Clemson for football and I signed at USC for basketball. He is still a close friend to my family. Im a bit biased, but this was a slam dunk hire for FAMU and I think adding two coaches from Miami is genius as it relates to recruiting. Willie will be able to recruit the northern part of the state very well because he is well respected in North Florida/South Georgia.

With all of that being said, I can't wait until we beat that *** every other year. Lol.

FAMU administration is so bad not sure anybody can be successful there.

As a FAMU alum I personally don't think the administration really cares about how good the football team is. It always has been and will be about the band.

Dilly Dilly. I played from 06-08 at FAM and I can tell you the admin doesn’t care. But this will help recruiting there. Smart play by FAM to leverage the SFL ties while giving HS coaches a shot at the college level.

I remember the days when it was FAMU. Tenn. State, Grambling the powerhouses in their divisions and occasionally Jackson St. or Alabama A&M They would always play some powerhouse in the Orange Blossom Classic in the OB (RIP). My dad (RIP) always told me that the best pros came from these schools and their games were off the charts exciting.Went to a few as a kid with my dad and it was awesome, saw the Bullet Bob Hayes play!

Should've went to Cookman... **** Famu

**** you , you community college drop out .

That being said, I am honestly not very impressed with these hires - I like Simmons. Its going to take more than a couple coaches with good resumes to turn this thing around! Our facilities suck, I have never seen BTW or Southridge facilities but I'm willing to bet my left nutt they are superior to FAMU. I think these two brothers are in for a real culture shock ( i.e. them Wednesday luncheons at Old Times Buffet to collect a $300.00 check), and don't see Harris fitting in well at all. In my humble opinion, South Florida is pretty much dead for us- No kid is turning down a full ride to the Akron, Temple, UNC Charlotte of the world to come to FAMU IT AINT HAPPENING- and its a waste of our time and extremely limited resources to be down there. Now if we want to make coaching hires that can have a positive impact on recruiting then you don't need to leave leon county- Fuller has proven to be a good coach, and anyone who follows the MEAC knows its not kids from South Florida that are beating us year end and year out its kids from right here in the 850 that FAMU didn't recruit.

That being said, I'm done with FAMU at this point in my life! I'm a 2nd generation Rattler and Wife is a 3 time Alum- but we are making the conscience decision to plan to send out children elsewhere - Spellman, Harvard, or Brown.

It's dead if they think they're gonna compete for those non-P5, FBS kids, but there's plenty of high end FCS talent to go around.

It's like I said, they need to go back to that formula Billy Joe had...D1 transfers, a few SoFla kids, and like you said, keep the local talent home.

Yeah the facilities suck, but winning trumps all.

I remember the FAMU teams if that era--Hayes, Bob Paramore..a backfield with every guy under 10 seconds in the 100 (yards, not meters, back then). I guess long-time Raider stud Hewritt Dixon came along a bit later.

Integration at the major schools (UM, FSU, UF) helped cripple the Black powers FAMU. We

Dilly Dilly... You know I'm lovin' the move and I concur with your thoughts about the administration. Also, I actually attended in two different stretches, '01-'04, '07-'09 so I was actually there when we ruled the MEAC and were mainstays in the 1-AA playoffs and saw the decline start that has led us to an all-time low. We were already sliding when we attempted to go D1. The real cause for the downfall was our inability to hire a coach that would've kept rolling after Coach Joe's run had ended...

Never went to FAMU but I'm a rattler at heart. Love the marching 100 just as much as i love hurricane sports.
