Lost in all this HC talk is what problem areas in total do we want addressed? What are the chief
Complaints from fans for the last 15 years.

Let me know if I’m missing any:

1. SOFT — we have very very rarely been the more physical team, particularly on DL/OL

2. Tackling/Discipline — the penalties have been a consistent problem but less so than the lack of FUNDAMENTALS. Know your keys, know your lane, know how to tackle

3. OL play — have had a handful of decent lines. Haven’t run blocked well in more than a decade. ** pass blocking has been very good the last 5 weeks**

4. Defensive scheme — with a small handful of exceptions, defensive scheme has been a train wreck for 10+ years.

5. Special Teams — should be a strength always, has at best been not a weakness since Duke left.

6. DBs/LBs — use to produce an ungodly amount. Sean Spence is the best linebacker we’ve had in a decade. We haven’t had a legit shut down corner in more than 15 years. My point made.

Tell me how Stoops doesn’t solve a lot of this. I realize he has a smaller fan club than Mario or Lane. He’s a DB specialist, he will rip someone’s head off if they loaf, his lines are always super physical and he’s a B+ D coordinator.

The sticking point with him is his preferred offensive scheme. He doesn’t have the horses to run anything else at UK. You give Lashlee and TVD for two years we are in serious business.

And he’s interested

The only reason I still want Mario is the OL. Mirabel or Mario might fix it?? Every time we run the ball I expect a 2 yard loss.

How do you know he’s legitimately interested? I been looking to see what has been reported and the only thing I have seen was Lane’s people reaching out

SOFT - glad you listed that as #1. The old saying is that games are won in the trenches. There were some flashes on the DL, but the best players tended to leave early. The OL has lacked nastiness for a long time.
