I will say it again, the weakness on this team without a doubt is Defense. Yes pack would have mattered and we like likely would have won if he played.

But even if shots aren't falling in the second half of fsu game, if we played better D, we still hang on.

Coach L made no adjustments in 2nd half.

Prior to yesterday, I thought miami had a real chance to sneak in the FF, but now I am not sure.

But clearly we can't underestimate Pack's importance on this team.

Let's win the Pitt game to do our best to get this awful taste out of our mouth from this game.

In that second half, our guys might as well have been playing with matador capes to wave the FSU cutters and drivers on through to the rim. The bank was definitely open!

Like rebounding, a lot of playing defense comes down to will and desire by each player. Woulda thought after some earlier defensive collapses like against Cornell, we'd have gotten that lesson down already.

defense isnt great on our end but we looked lost on O without a true PG out there. Wong is a 2 and we couldn't get anything set up. everything for us was difficult and guys looked lost.

lol they blew a huge lead. they didnt get dominated. it happens. they can still make a FF run or lose in round 1. yesterday didnt change any of that.

Sir I suggest you look at finals from other games nationwide.

Scoring is up everywhere. We’re no different from any other team out there.

Wong proved against F$U that he is a defensive liability. Beaten on the dribble drive all second half for easy layups. Omier seemed to be up high for some reason giving Wong no help underneath.

I have no idea why Coach L didn't go to zone after F$U's third straight layup. I wonder if Coach L even has a zone prepared for this squad. If he does have a zone implementation, he screwed up the second half.

The second half of the FSU game will be a blueprint for future opponents. It's up to Coach L to disect the tape and come up with a solution. I hope part of it is going zone from time to time to slow down the dribble drive.

IMO, I will keep saying this. Our success is based on effort. It was lacking in the second half much like against Maryland.

Team went up 25 points at home, in a rivalry game. FSU was listless in the first half and our guys mailed it in. Didn't help that FSU shot the lights out in the second half.

I'm not sure what adjustments needed to be made. The college game is going the way of the pro game in that defense is typically optional and most games are being played in the 80's.

Thats another way of saying we are inconsistent (with numerous flaws.) It happened several games that we hung on. So we could just as easily go on a hot run thru the FF.... or.... we might have notched our last win of the season last week. (Walker however seemed to be better yesterday.)

They used #3 to pick in the post whoever was guarding the driving FSU player. My gripe player wise was Omier by not establishing position in the post defensively. Of course a couch should have caught this. FSU did it like 20 times and it never failed.

Great point!

Historically, teams that made a run in the big dance did it with great guard play and by playing solid D. However, times have changed and just like the NBA game it seems defense at the college level as also gone by the wayside. Defending just doesn't seem to be a necessity any longer. A team like Virginia proves that. As much as they hang their hats on defense, they haven't made it past the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament since the 18-19 season.

Agree, although I didn't like the defense of pretty much everyone out there.

Also, that open three ball from the corner has been a staple of teams that play us. We never seem to rotate well to defend that. A lot times the shooter misfires but that shot always seems open and if, like FSU did, they can knock then down ...
