Played Golding and Ole Miss last year. Didn’t play well but could be an advantage for us that he has seen this defense. They haven’t seen him in our offense though.
Offensive gameplan will likely be power run plus play-action.
The amount of pistol looks you could run with Fletcher and Lofton is actually crazyA part of me wants to see Elijah Lofton tote that thing.
I like it when he actually runs and gets those 5 yards instead of sliding like a puss two feet before the first down like bama qbCarson is at his best when our run game takes the drivers seat.
He was darn near perfect vs OSU and you can expect that start against OM the same way.
The time of possession win against OSU is even more impressive with the pick 6. They had an extra possession. Dominated them.It was ****ing rain that whole game and UGA was on the road. They also couldn’t protect Beck, as was the story all year. He got sacked multiple times in that game.
We get another dry, calm dome game next week. And he’s got a much better offensive line this time around.
Also, that 2024 Ole Miss defense was WAY better than this version. They can’t rush the passer, they can’t stop the run. We are gonna go up and down the field on them.
It’s funny, I’m a little nervous about the matchup because of our tempo and how much our defense relies on the havoc of 3 and 4. If they’re gassed, we’re way less effective. But this can go really bad for Ole Miss the other way, too. As I said, they can’t stop the run. They are not a physical defense. And they’re 78th in the country in time of possession. How does the 4th quarter look if there are a couple quick 3 and outs by their offense and we have a few 7 minute drives where we just hammer their heads into the pavement?
We just beat taint at their own game. They came in top 5 in the country in time of possession. They play the same way we do, slow on offense, a boa constrictor on defense, and they wear your *** out. Welp…33:20 of possession for the good guys, 26:40 for them. And someone remind me, how’d that last drive go for everyone? One team looked like they were pushing just a little bit more, didn’t it?
I don’t want to see a one score game late, but if we do, and we play the way we’ve played the whole year, I’ll take my chances against their tired, soft defense. But it’s imperative we get some quick stops early.
