...our deficiencies on Special Teams. Hartley is a helluva recruiter and I have no problem with his TE coaching, but our return units are straight-@ss. UNC and most of our P5 opponents appear more organized in these areas and I don't think that better blocking and an occasional TD is too much to ask given the athletes we have.

Hartley may simply have too much on his plate. I still think we would have been better served using that tenth assistant coaching position on an offensive specialist or legit ST coach; Patke was a very underwhelming hire / promotion and most would agree that we could have done better.

Anyway, what's it gonna take for him to start making substantive changes to this staff? Georgia had to force his hand when he was there and Blake James doesn't have the balls to do that, so hopefully he's learned from his time there...but that's probably just wishful thinking. This staff is far from perfect so let's hope he doesn't rest on his laurels like he's done in the past. We'll know just how "comfortable" he is this offseason.

If we post 5.6 threads per week on the subject i'm sure he'll eventually become aware.

It is ridiculous for a major D1 program to not have a dedicated ST coach.

Its going to be hard to make that argument when apparently we're somehow one of the top return teams in the nation, and we're not doing bad in our kickoff and punt coverages. I think feagles mishaps have cast a bad light on the whole special teams units, but bubba baxa is seeming to be a reliable fieldgoal kicker and his kickoffs have been going thru the endzone on a regular. And quite honestly, ill special teams will improve as the young talent continues to mature. We all know what jeff thomas is and can do and has done as a wideout, he has never impressed me as a returner, just doesnt have that extra gear like santana, roscoe parrish or devin hester when it comes to special teams, plus that return punished em, took alot out of him. Anybody who has ever run a long kickoff or punt return interception back over 75yds or more where you had to make several moves, yo **** better be in shape or you'll be on the sidelines done for the rest of the game.

But guys like santana & hester were a different breed, that heat tore his **** up on that return, lol, he should be back close to 100% by the time the Fsu game starts tho.

It was one of the major three changes/moves/transitions that should have been done last off season:

1. New OC
2. Additional Coach: ST Help
3. New QB Coach
--------------------------------------- Bonus Help
4. Fix DB coaching situation (find someone to help Manny b/c you don't need 2)

Instead we got Patke.

I cant blame Hartley for Feagles he cant give him a new leg so theres that, usually special teams shows the depth u have. We arent good at kickoff coverage IMO and other things. I dont know if its him or the players but hes a **** of a recruiter which is more important than anything IMO.

I thought Patke would be this ace recruiter but wtf does he do?

He needs a new head more than a new leg. In practice he can boom them with no pressure. When in game time, even pre game warmups, he is sensing the pressure.

I swear people post the same **** every week. No matter how we play, people will focus on the "negatives" and post 1849294 threads about it.

Why do u think we need a new QB coach? Since MR and staff has gotten here the talent in the qb has been better than I can remember...y’all can point to rosier but remember the cat was a 2* recruit and look what MR got out of him..and last all of our QB look sound from a technical standpoint

When he's taking potshots at the punter and saying he doesn't mind the booing of him, he's pretty much acknowledging there's an issue.

But what can he do about it RIGHT NOW???

This isn't Feagles's first year punting.

This should've been known last year.

And it didn't look too good having a punter last year with a beer gut.

IF a punter / kicker is going to have a gut, his name better be Janikowski who can kick it from here to the moon. Other than him, it just doesn't look like a player who is too serious in his job.

I mean I hear you, but they decided it was more important to use the 10th coach spot on a guy who basically coaches 3 players.

Priorities. ST wasn't one of em.

Then why do we need Jon? Because we’re talking about a QB coach and not MR.
