Current ACC members Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Louisville were all added after the sample period ended in 2012."

Yep. That was an enormous call. Similarly the hold on VT was a bit dubious as well.

The right team won the game. Give VT credit for playing great and exposing us a bit. Lots to improve on over the next 2 months

Me as well. I was more upset with the poor mark on George's first down reception.
When they signaled TD, I was actually resigned to "here we go again"
No scream no anger, just one more sip of my bourbon and get ready for bed.
 
Any other scenario & those choades would’ve been fighting each other for who gets to call in the news that screwed Miami. Self interest. And I’m ok with that.

What?!?!

You need to pay more attention to the Va Tech twitterverse. Refs ALWAYS give Miami ALL the calls.

Just rewatched the ending of the game again. I just realized that neither official was anywhere near where the ball ended up when it disappeared into a sea of arms.

Both officials showed up to the scrum 4 seconds after the ball made contact with the players. It was another 4 seconds before the one official made the official touchdown call. 8 seconds is a very long time to wait to make any call on the field if you ask me.

The kicker is by the time the ref finally decided to make the TD call, our player already had the ball in his hands and was running down the field with it.

How the referee, or better yet , why this referee decided to take it upon himself to make a call like that when he had no idea who caught the ball was Porter esque and that official needs to be investigated.

**** happens and bad calls are part of the game. I get it! But this particular official took it upon himself to do what he could to change the outcome of a hard fought down to the wire football game by making a call he had no business making.

This same official was on the field when there were two #17’s on the field at the same time and he managed to miss that call. Yet he was able to clearly see a VT player catch a ball at the end of regulation on a Hail Mary play that he was nowhere near? GTFOOH!!

The sooner we get out of the corrupt ACC, the better!!

The cover 3 podcast actually had a pretty good take on this. The game requires refs to make a call on the field because that's how they formulate their reviews.

The rule needs to be changed because in situations like that they're literally just ******* guessing.

If no ref knows what happened it should go to a booth review no matter what.

Agreed. There needs to be a scenario where there is no call as you suggest, or a call that does not require “indisputable evidence” to overturn the call, just as a place holder.

But I do wonder if the replay people were told something like, ‘the ref has to make a call but he didn’t have a good look’.
