I can’t shake the feeling.

Pretty much what I said in another thread.

1) win the next 3
2) fans and media will start talking themselves into how we sneak back into the playoffs.
3) then gut wrenching loss at Pitt where its close most of the game, they take the lead late in the 4th, us with the ball driving with a chance to win it and untimely turnover wins it for them. just how it always goes for us.

Why do I think, despite this ****-up of a season so far, this team is gonna somehow find themselves with a decent chance to make the ACCCG/CFP going into the last week, then pizz down their legs at Pitt.
Why do you think this team could make a playoff??

My guesses would be 1) traumatic head injury, 2) some kind of organic brain disease 3) You’re high as a bird

One (or more) of those 3 answers probably explains it.

I see you completely missed the point.
The only point I saw was "Here we go again, the Canes are going to tickle my *** with a feather, win 3 in a row, and dash my hopes by losing against Pitt when a win would get them into the CFP or ACC Championship game". Pretty much a pity party caused by PTSD of Canes' seasons past.

This would be hilarious. Very likely. Or we lose 2 more games.

The only guarantee for this year is disappointment. We're just measuring how much of it we'll see.

If you’re point required a thorough reading of you post, then there is a good chance you are right, and I missed the point.

For real tho, you suspect this team will **** itself late, blowing another chance, because that’s all this team does.

The DNA of this program is such that the worst, most painful outcome, in inevitable.

That would absolutely be on brand.

If we are mathematically eliminated then no chance we even go into Pitt with the thought of winning. Cold holiday weekend game on the road with questionable motivation?

Why do you feel that way?

Because of the last 20+ years of the exact same experience.

Every time we get in a position where we start getting national praise and recognition the team crumbles.

It would happen every few years... Then every year.

And now it'll happen multiple times every year. Last year it happened twice.

This year it's already happened twice and will happen again.

Would have to agree, and this is my expectation, or maybe even lose against ncst or away at vt. Follow it up with a loss in a “meaningless” bowl game that anyone with a-prospect of being drafted will opt out of, and you’ve got your UM football program in a nutshell for over 20 years. Nasty cycle were in. Can’t wait to see what “let it rip” looks like, because I’ve been spitting out some pretty good bourbon with those behind the line buble screens we run regularly on third and six.

That would be a fever dream to even be in discussions like that going Pitt.

But we’ve seen how this has gone for 20+ years, even with a generational qb

Not a shot. Win out and we finish no higher than third in the ACC.

Other teams can lose

And also even if they don't and we finish 10-2 and no ACC ship game... I'm thinking CFB fans, talking heads, committee, etc are finally realizing the very important factor ….That the "runner up" from the championship games SHOULDN'T MEAN ONE **** THING. You simply can't have that with 12 teams and unbalanced conference schedules…For instance there was no way in **** SMU shoulda been in the playoff last season, none…Especially the ACC ship game, but basically all of them. You can't count that as some type of accomplishment when these conferences all have 15+ teams and the schedule each team plays can be night and day compared to another team.

I agree with you main point, but I think the proper words are more like "Very little shot"…. If we win out and miss the ACC ship…I think we have a 10-15% chance to get in. There is enough talk in the media about our non-conference wins, "Why is ND a shoe in and Miami is out? (reading that everywhere), and especially if Sofla continues to roll and wins that conference…Would really help if at least one or hopefully UF and FSU play well down the stretch too obviously.
