Absolutely true..but I would still assume, in retrospect to the years each of our past coaches have been hired, that mark is most likely well and beyond the highest paid amongst other coaches across the country

It was a horrible extension. This offense has been putrid for 3 seasons, with no changes. An IPF is no reason to support a coach. Since that “10 won season” they’ve gone 6-8, including non P5. Now that there’s film on richt, defenses are gonna kill him.

Quite frankly, your post is indicative of the problems UM has had since the scourge of donna ****lala came to town. One good season is NOT grounds for a multi-million dollar contract extension.

1) We extended Coker after the 2004 season when many of us here were questioning if he was the right man to lead the program going forward. He was fired two seasons later.

2) Al Golden was extended into one of the most undeserved contracts I've ever seen in college coaching merely because he wore a tie, had blue eyes and was very articulate. This was done while many a fan was questioning his coaching ability. He was relieved of coaching duties 2 years later.

3) Now Mark Richt gets an ~$15 million extension after one good season that ended poorly. Look where we are now.

Maybe... JUST MAYBE!!!! We might be better off running the risk of losing one of these elite coaches instead of overreacting financially after some nominally good initial results.
