Hurricanes records...

OP being lazy and didn't post each record he's talking about.. .I'm even lazier and won't look them up either..... and I assume OP is talking about being broken by fellow canes....not CFB...

First take is Toney, beating X, but then again, I don't see Toney staying all 4years like X had... Fitz might be able to hit 11 INTS....
Didn't X have an extra COVID year too? Not to take away from him, because I truly love the dude. Also, plenty of guys could have broken the record after CFB went to 12 regular season games in the mid-2000s + ACC championship game and didn't, so X is still awesome for being the one to finally do it.

INTs…

6 TDs stats because MC lack RB by committee.

Returns… smh.

Seeing as X took 5 seasons to surpass people whose stats were done in 3 and 4 years. Barring another global pandemic that’ll grant kids an extra year of eligibility annnnd anyone who’s good enough to put up really good numbers as a freshman more than likely will be out after 3 years. So I think the receiving record stay for a while.
well if were in the playoffs, then toney will have like 14-16 games a year to get to it.

He had 12 yards year 1
600 after 3 years

Does anyone know the most sacks we ever recorded in a game?
Probably Rusty Medearis against TT with 5.5 sacks.
He also had 4 in the 1991 NC against Nebraska.
Rousseau also had 4 in a game.

Official Sack records were not kept by the NCAA prior to 2000, so it’s possible someone pre 1980’s had more. I say pre 1980’s because many of us would recall that far back, even if the NCAA didn’t keep records.

I think thats tough. Toney will be gameplanned for eventually.
And also depends on his QB
It’s rare now that you see a lot of skill players start as true freshmen and a good reason for Toney having the opportunity to break the record.

If Toney decides to stay for 4 years, I think the record is his.

We have a kid with 3 ints through 5 games.
We could play 16 games and the next 7 games could have lots of opportunities for more.

On pace for 10 in 16 games as a freshman and it wouldn’t shock me to see this kid hit 10 in 13

Most of those records are from a bygone era of football.

They have no chance of ever being broken.

As long as Mario is coach, no RB records will be broken as we always run 2+ per game.

If we got another generational QB like Cam (possible), the ones that could be broken are realistically:

Cam Wards single season passing yards
Stephen Morris single game passing yards
Cam Wards single season passing TDs
Jarren Williams single game pasing TDs

Xavier Restrepos single season catches
Mike Harleys single game catches
Xavier Restrepos career catches
Charleston Rambos single season receiving yards

Correction: Taylor and Blades 10 Ints in single season.

Blades did do it in 11 games and Taylor in 12, but that could definitely be passed with 13 to 16 games possible now.
I guess we’re counting postseason statistics in season totals? But I would go back and see if blades or Taylor had any interceptions in their bowl games those seasons. Pretty sure ST had one in the orange bowl game versus FSU. Was that the same season he had 10? Might wanna bump them up to 11 to be fair.

If I’m not mistaken, Danny Stubbs has the unofficial team record for sacks in a year at 17, or 17 1/2?

He also has the career record I believe.

It will be hard to break Morris single game passing yards. 566 2012 against Nc State. And with the portal do you really think anyone will break Dorsey 86 tds in a career?
If anyone was going to break Morris's single game record of 566 yds it would have been Cam Ward last year. The 86 career TDs by Dorsey will be very difficult to break but still possible if we get a young gunslinger at QB who starts immediately.
