Hurricane Hotline tonight features Don Chaney and Greg Rousseau

Both Rousseau and Chaney spoke very well. Greg didn't say a whole lot different than he has said in other interviews. He talked a little about the pre-draft process - in particular, about the "chalk talk" sessions he has had with various teams. He said they were pretty thorough and difficult. He was asked about defensive schemes, offensive schemes; he was asked to diagram various things. Said it was tough.

Chaney is just a great interview. He's so genuine and really speaks from the heart. He talked about the competition in the RB room. Said they are all pushing each other but they are close despite the competition. He seems very focused.

He told a story about the bowl game. Said he was a little nervous when he was told he was going to go in. Canes were down and he knew he had to play well and make something happen. He said Ed Reed went over to him and sensing he was nervous, told him to calm down, take a deep breath. He said Ed told him "you didn't come here to do nothing so take yourself out there and do something. Do what you came her for". Chaney said it did help him relax and it's something he will remember. He was very appreciative that Ed took the time to talk to him like that.

To add to the Chaney story, it was mentioned on Manny Navarro's podcast for the Athletic that Frank Gore is going to work with Chaney over the summer. Gore has already reached out to him and plans to work with him on pass protection, etc.

Gore needs to sit Chaney, Rooster, Thad and GA kid (cant remember his name now) down and tell them the story of how when he was at UM..He had to compete against Portis, MaGahee, and Najeh Davenport for PT in 01'. And all 4 of them ended up in the NFL making millions. So dont get discouraged about PT because all you can do is show out when your number is called. (Like Gore did as a TF in 2001) And be ready if someone gets hurt. (Like McGahee in 2002 when Gore got hurt)

I can’t remember what interview it was or what video he said it. But ER said “I try to make everyone understands that if one of us eats then we all eat”. He was referring to competition and the fact that teammates need to push each other and by making one person better it will make everyone better.

There isnt another school in America where you'll have 2 NFL HOF'ers reach out to YOU, so they can help. I dont give a f*ck what BAMA does the next 50 years, they wont have it like we got it!
