The team needs a total organizational and culture change from the ground up. Here’s my plan:
Don’t play another game in 2022. Guys are getting hurt, it’s not worth it. Literally nothing to be gained going out and playing this year.
Don’t play a game in 2023. That’s right, self-induced “death penalty”. Let the players and coaches find a new home. Wish them all well. Create a clean slate. You don’t want anyone at all from the current system moving forward bringing along their negative energy.
Leave the ACC and join AAC. College Football has changed. The school is too small to compete at the highest levels. Accept it for what it is and find a new conference that is a better fit. The last 15 years serve as evidence the time has come.
Rebrand. Time to let go of the past. Drop “Miami Hurricanes” - that’s toxic now. Pick something new to have a chance for a new mindset and culture. The “Coral Gables Iguanas” (joke). Pick whatever. Pay some marketing firm that can come up with a name that incorporates history of the area.
Find a new place to play that is small and fits the scope and scale of what this team might be able to accomplish. Playing in an NFL stadium with the product the team puts on the field is embarrassing for everyone involved, including the fans.
Hire a young staff that’s willing to take risks and be innovative on both sides of the ball. Aim for creating something entertaining to watch on Saturday that kids enjoying playing in.
