How much do schools spend on “enhanced” recruiting?

Just thinking...if top recruits are now earning 200-250K from bagmen to sign with a school, what is the collective enhanced recruiting budget for a school like LSU or other suspected outside the box programs? Are we talking about a “payroll” that’s in excess of $10M annually? Or is it even higher?

Obviously there are no official numbers, but curious what the speculation is.

Pure speculation, but I would bet its basically every 5 star guy and a large amount of top 300 players. So basically add up all the 5 stars in a recruiting class for a particular team and multiply by 250k. Then add that to the number of top 300 4 stars multiply by 70% and then by 250k. That would be a rough estimate.

I could be 100% incorrect, but that is just my 2 cents.

The "bagman" concept is actually a spectrum of impermissable benefits. In some cases, a booster simply buys meals for a recruit and gives him walking around money on a visit. Others have very large sums ($250K is is the highest I have heard of) given to a trusted advisor such as a minister, uncle, or a street agent. Free car usage is very common, I am told as is upgraded housing. Back in the day we got the "$100 handshake" after games........................but zero is paid or provided by the school directly. That would be too easy to discover......................

PS the handshakes occured at a school other than Miami.

It’s already been said numerous times but yes we know exactly what the school budget is for bags. Any school. It’s exactly zero.

As far as people asking on a fan site message board, “how do I become a bagman?”

Please don’t become a bag man.

If that’s your level of awareness (and expertise), that you think you become a bag man by getting a how-to on a public forum, then you’re going to get us in trouble for the few hundred dollars that you’d be giving out anyway.

Do us all a favor. Just stay home and watch the games, contribute to the Hurricane Club, buy the T-shirts, and be a fan. We don’t need any more probation.

Let me take care of that for you. I’ll PM you my address, then just send the money to me. I’ll take it from there. You won’t have to bother with any Google searches. I won’t even charge you. This way it’ll make it really easy for you, and you'll have plausible deniability.

I'm THE accountant for the NCAA and here are the figures
SEC schools => $50,000,002.98
ACC schools (not including Miami) => $50,000,002.98
Miami => $36.72

Sorry, I'm way too cheap to be a bagman. Someday, maybe, I'll feel rich enough to buy season tickets, but that's just because I dare to dream.
