I saw Sonny Kick out on a blitz. That was enough to make me smile. I also saw him identify his guy pre snap and point to allow the guar dot know he was sLiding out.
His feet actually looked good...and he has a huge wingspan.....
Overall didnt look bad but that was going against BC. Sometimes going against smaller players is actually harder....i atleast see improvement in sonny's game...

How about going against smaller players who are really terrible? Is that harder too?

yes, kinda like facing an old knuckle ball pitcher that doesn't know how to throw a knuckleball.... much more difficult to hit something slow and straight, real mind****
Sunny dominated that kid with Parkinsons across from him. Sunny didn't even false start once with all the twitching that kid was doing across from him.
Linder is really nimble and agile. I loved how he played each snap setup the same to avoid giving away his slide. The C actually helps the LG more than any other OL, but he also slips to the second level on certain plays, and even will have the inside shoulder of the T on certain combinations, so the C needs to play with a similar initial setup so as to avoid giving away his assignment. I liked him quite a bit.
Darling was awful. Just really bad. Not only did he get destroyed on the sack, but he was consistently losing at the initial point of contact. I think Darling is a LG and always have. He is not this uber talented kid that so many believe in my eyes. He's an underpowered, underathletic, reacher and waist-bender. He needs to be protected on the inside and have the help of the C to be successful.
McDermott needs to be the LT because he will actually lock out and be nasty enough to push his man wide around the arc rather than stop his feet, bend at his waist and let his man rip through trash to hit his QB like Darling does.
Isidora is another guy who tends to duck his head and bend at the waist. One of the worst things our OL does is get antsy. We want to get the initial punch in and we tend to duck our head, reach, and get off balance. At times you can see guys thinking out there and trying to contain their reach and instead expose their chest to the DL. I'm 190 lbs and I could bullrush and leverage an OL if he stands straight up and exposes his chest. Isidora does have natural strength so if he would drop his butt to anchor, bend his knees and let the DL commit to his direction he has the strength to grip and ride him out of the hole.
Brown honestly impressed me. He has quick hands and understands angles. The position on the OL that gets the least amount of help is the RG, so you need someone who understands angles because they also are responsible for the second level LB'er more than any other OL. He made a case to get more snaps after this game, which surprises me because I thought he was sloppy in both body and technique in high school. Credit to the coaches here, he has developed.
Sunny has the natural talent to get by against the BCC's of the world. I want to see him understand technique and when to anchor, when to let the DL simply take himself out of the play by running wide, how not to overset to the outside and give up the inside shoulder, and just remain composed after a bad play. We'll see, but he was definitely our best T in game one.
