How bad is our Tackling? Here's Stats

From PFF's Missed Tackles Forced stat:

Alabama - Brian Robinson - 9 MTF's vs Miami. Previous career high was 7
App St - Camerun Peoples - 9 MTF's vs Miami. Previous career high was 7
Mich St - Kenneth Walker - 20 MTF's vs Miami. Previous career high was 10

So each of the first 3 starting RB's we've faced this year have set their career high in Missed Tackles Forced.

For perspective - Last year Cam (17), Chaney (9), and Knighton (7) - COMBINED had 33 MTF's on 246 carries. We've given up 38 MTF's on only 56 carries in 3 games.

In fairness to our backs, it's hard to force missed tackles when 90% of our run plays are delayed handoffs up the middle into Corey Gaynor's back fat. There is absolutely zero creativity or versatility to Lashlee's run calls.

Walker put up better numbers than Cam behind Wake's OL - so Walker's probably just the better RB.

These are troubling stats not just for the missed tackles we give up (68%), but for how little missed tackles our RB's forced (13% last year).

Yearby, Walton, Homer - all had a MTF rate around 18%. Deejay Dallas was the best around 31%. Cam was around 15% last year and 13% this year. That's not just the OL's fault. The RB's need to step up.
