Hiring Coaches that got Fired

Would Microsoft hire a person to be their CEO if said person was fired as CEO from Apple for lack of performance and tanking their stock? **** no

That fired CEO would be fielding offers from startups or mid tier companies.

Richt was being courted by mid tier schools like MD and UVA, because no other P5 school with a real chance of winning a title would touch him. He was shunned by the Googles, Microsoft’s, Amazon’s, and Tesla’s of the world, because they all saw a guy that lacked vision, modern day talent and penchant for innovation. They saw the real Richt....a has been or better yet, a “never was.”

Black James and the BoT on the other hand, forgot who Miami is and the legacy it has. 5 national titles and played for a chance to win it all 9 times in 35 years! Miami is a Microsoft, Google type brand but forgot that and lowered themselves to start up status by chasing after and hiring a failed coach, with no energy, that lacks vision and imagination.

Very valid points you're making here. But I do have a quick question. What P5 school with title aspirations had a job opening when Richt was fired?

Retreads usually don't work out. That being said, the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks have done pretty well with their retreads.

Btw, I'm not equating Richt with either Belicheck or Carroll. Just an observation since the original gist of the thread was whether coaches who have been fired can win anywhere.
